Job summary

Soluroc is seeking a Project Estimator to price complex, non-routine projects for our Sudbury team. You will own the estimates behind opportunities, ensuring accuracy, margin protection, and clear cost breakdowns for bids.

You will collaborate with Solutions, Engineering, Operations, Procurement, and Finance to validate costs, maintain the cost database, and drive continuous improvement in estimating tools and methods.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in estimating, costing, or a similar role — industrial or construction environment preferred.
• Strong understanding of cost drivers in labour, materials, and subcontracted services.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, technical specifications, and customer requirements.
• Proficiency with estimating software, ERP systems, and Excel.
• Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills, and a collaborative working style.
• Experience in mining, construction, or industrial services is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates covering materials, labour, equipment, subcontracted services, and logistics.
• Analyze drawings, specifications, and customer scopes to define what a project really requires.
• Identify risks and build appropriate contingencies into every estimate.
• Support bids and proposals with clear, professional cost breakdowns and documentation.
• Collaborate with Solutions, Engineering, Operations, Procurement, and Finance to validate estimates and obtain vendor pricing.
• Maintain our cost database and historical estimate records, track estimate accuracy and win rates.
• Recommend improvements to our estimating tools, methods, and processes.

Our Sudbury Integrated Solutions team prices the custom, capital, and project-based work that wins us our most demanding jobs — and we're adding a Project Estimator to the team.

About the Role

Reporting to the Solutions Team Lead, you'll own the estimates behind our most complex opportunities. This isn't routine catalogue quoting — it's non-routine, project-specific work where accuracy, margin protection, and sound technical interpretation decide whether we win profitable work.

You will:

• Prepare detailed cost estimates covering materials, labour, equipment, subcontracted services, and logistics
• Analyze drawings, specifications, and customer scopes to define what a project really requires
• Identify risks and build appropriate contingencies into every estimate
• Support bids and proposals with clear, professional cost breakdowns and documentation
• Collaborate with Solutions, Engineering, Operations, Procurement, and Finance to validate estimates and obtain vendor pricing

What Success Looks Like

Estimates within ±5% of actual cost. 95%+ delivered on schedule. A cost database the whole team trusts. Proposals that help us win 30–40% of what we bid.

What We're Looking For
