Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Manage project work from scope to start-up with internal/external contractors.
• Ensure projects meet defined objectives, budgets, and schedules.
• Prepare budgets, schedules, and resource allocation plans for multi-discipline teams.
• Control projects to meet requirements, standards, procedures and quality control.
• Apply knowledge and tools to project activities to meet stakeholder needs.
• Make independent decisions on work methods within project scope.
• Liaise between operations, maintenance, technical groups and contractors.

TSG STAFFING SERVICES is currently recruiting for a PROJECT DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER (CIVIL/STRUCTURAL) for an Edmonton-based opportunity to work in an operating plant environment.

Job Responsibilities:

• Following project work management process from project scope development through to start-up, working with in-house or external contractors as applicable to achieve the desired results
• Ensuring successful completion of projects according to clearly defined and agreed-upon objectives
• Preparing budgets, schedules and resource allocation plans for multi-discipline resources, incorporating best practices in cost control, risk analysis and schedule stewardship
• Managing and controlling projects to ensure that objectives are met in an economical and timely manner, and that applicable standards, procedures and quality control requirements are either developed or met as required
• Applying knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to project activities to meet or exceed stakeholder needs and expectations
• Making independent decisions on work methods and procedures within project scope
• Liaison between operations, maintenance, technical groups and outside contractors

Job Requirements:

• 7+ years’ experience as a Project Development Engineer, with operating plant exposure is an asset
• Registered P. Eng or eligible for registration with APEGA
• Engineering, maintenance, project, and/or operations experience at an operating facility or a heavy industrial site is considered an asset
• Working knowledge of SAP and Excel is preferred.
• Experience with data collection, data analysis, and engineering/construction progress reporting
• Experience with the technical and business management disciplines of engineering, as well as procurement and construction activities
• Excellent communication and analytical skills
