Project Designer

Position Overview

EXP’s Barrie office is seeking a Project Designer to join our expanding Land Development group. This role involves working in a fast-paced environment to support land development projects.

Responsibilities

1. Collaborate with Project Managers to develop drafting and design work for land development projects, including grading, stormwater management, and servicing designs.
2. Prepare project designs, specifications, and contract documents under the guidance of a Project Manager.
3. Create drawings for submission and assist with engineering calculations and as-built documentation.
4. Ensure drawings meet specified requirements.
5. Support obtaining necessary approvals and permits from municipal, provincial, and federal agencies.
6. Assist with engineering support during construction and maintenance phases, liaising with internal teams as needed.
7. Participate in staff, client, and project meetings.

Qualifications

1. Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology from an accredited institution.
2. 5-10 years of practical experience in the field.
3. Strong experience with Civil 3D; proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office.
4. Excellent communication and people skills, with the ability to mentor junior staff.
5. Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work under pressure.
6. Construction field experience and industry knowledge are preferred.

Working Conditions

Fast-paced environment with occasional stress and tight deadlines. Tasks include repetitive activities, sitting, standing, walking, and teamwork. Critical thinking and problem-solving are essential.
