POSITION - SIGNAGE AND WAYFINDING DESIGNER

LOCATION - DOWNTOWN TORONTO, ON

Role description:

Our dynamic team in Toronto is looking for a Signage and Wayfinding Designer with comprehensive knowledge of graphic and industrial design principles and practices, and wayfinding theories in application to complex projects, including transit facilities and systems.

Role accountabilities:

• Create and develop signage and wayfinding design solutions aligned with graphic design best practices. Prepare drawings and documents, including sign location plan, message schedule, fabrication, mounting details, material, and finish specifications, etc.
• Mentor and encourage more junior team members, developing work plans and schedules to estimate effort to price potential work, and to meet the project deliverables
• Review contract documents and owner standards to interpret the scope of work and deliverables necessary for completion of signage projects.
• Develop requests for information (RFIs) for clarification on missing or unclear information, and engage with external stakeholders as necessary to validate the requirements of the contract
• Go to the project site to review technical requirements and logistics. On occasion, site access may require work outside of regular office hours
• Work with internal and external Teams, contributing to discussions to positively move design and projects forward, and explore new business opportunities on behalf of Arcadis

Qualifications & Experience:

• 10 or more years of experience working with the design and development of wayfinding design programs that also include strong skills related to technical requirements related to materials and fabrication. It would be great if the project experience includes transit facilities such as bus and rail stations, airports, or similarly complex environments
• An excellent sense of Graphic Design and/or Wayfinding Design with a portfolio in typography, illustration, and layout
• Strong software technical skills that include: Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator essential). Ability to work with Sign Agent, Revit, Microstation, and 3D modelling, rendering, and animation packages is an asset
• Membership or associate-level status with the Association of Registered Graphic Designers (RGD) would be a nice-to-have
• A Degree / Diploma in Graphic Design, Experiential Design, and/or Industrial Design
• Comfort working in a nimble, deadline-driven project environment

The salary range for this position is $78,000 to $117,000. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualifications for the role.
