Job summary

SECURE is hiring a Project Coordinator in Edmonton, AB, to support safe and efficient field operations across waste management services. You will coordinate project activities, prepare quotes, organize equipment and transportation, and help ensure regulatory compliance and accurate reporting.

The role is based in Edmonton with occasional travel to sites, working Monday to Friday a 40-hour week. A strong emphasis on safety and collaboration with the Sales and Operations teams is essential.

Your Opportunity at SECURE

As Project Coordinator, you will play an important role in supporting safe, efficient and effective field operations across SECURE’s waste management services. You will coordinate project activities, support client relationships, prepare quotes, organize equipment and transportation, and help ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently and in compliance with regulatory requirements.

This role is based out of Edmonton, AB.

The Team

The Edmonton Waste Services team is a collaborative, customer-focused group driven by SECURE’s commitment to safety, service and entrepreneurial spirit. The team works together to understand customer needs, develop practical solutions and deliver reliable waste management services that minimize environmental impact.

Work Environment

This is a Monday-to-Friday position working a standard 40-hour week at our Edmonton Transfer Station. The role may require occasional travel to customer and project sites, along with hands-on field support as needed.

A Day in The Life

• Serve as the primary operations contact for clients, supporting the effective delivery of contracts, projects and business opportunities.
• Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships in collaboration with the Sales team.
• Plan and coordinate daily field operations, including personnel, equipment, transportation, waste profiles and required documentation.
• Prepare project estimates, client quotations and operational plans for waste management services.
• Coordinate waste sampling, characterization, containerization, transportation and final disposal.
• Maintain a strong understanding of regulatory approvals, waste acceptance criteria and disposal requirements when directing waste to end-disposal locations.
• Coordinate supporting equipment such as vacuum trucks, forklifts, pumps and man lifts.
• Conduct site visits and provide on-site support during project execution, including hands-on field work when required.
• Support incident response activities, NORM surveys, field projects and customer training sessions.
• Ensure projects comply with SECURE’s safety standards, environmental requirements, TDG and applicable transportation regulations.
• Review field documentation, track project costs and support accurate reporting and billing.
• Collaborate with Operations Leaders and internal support teams to improve procedures, address potential hazards and ensure established processes are followed.
• Identify opportunities to improve equipment, technology, processes and service delivery.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

• Grade 12 diploma or General Education Diploma (GED); post-secondary education in a related field is considered an asset.
• A valid Class 5 driver’s licence.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in waste management or a similar industry.
• Ability to successfully complete pre-employment Alcohol and Drug testing.
• Valid industry safety certifications, including H2S, First Aid and Fall Protection, would be considered an asset.
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
• Comprehensive understanding of environmental and transportation regulations and requirements, including waste characterization, container and segregation requirements, permit conditions, storage limits, lab packing, bulking and blending, commingling, labelling, inventory management, shipping, receiving and TDG.
• Effective interpersonal, time management and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear technical reports.
• Ability to liaise professionally with owners, customers, suppliers, subcontractors and consultants.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to address concerns and resolve issues diplomatically.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn company-specific applications.
