Job summary

SECURE, based in Valleyview, AB, is seeking a Facility Operator to manage day-to-day safe operations of waste treatment, oil treatment and water injection, while delivering excellent customer service and maintaining compliance.

You will work a 7-on/7-off 12-hour shift rotation, unloading trucks, treating oil, handling waste and performing boiler and pump maintenance, with emphasis on safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Operational experience in waste processing, oil treating, or water injection is a strong asset.
• Safety tickets (H2S Alive, First Aid, Confined Space, WHMIS, TDG) required or in progress.
• Ability to document work, communicate across shifts, and coordinate with stakeholders.
• Ability to work long hours in a physically and mentally demanding environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate day-to-day plant activities safely and efficiently.
• Unload trucks, manage oil emulsion, and handle water & vac trucks.
• Treat oil with treater, cooler or tank treating.
• Support waste processing, tank operation, and solids processing.
• Maintain crude oil receipt, storage, and transfers with compliance.
• Perform boiler operations, testing, and steam system tasks.
• Ensure compliance programs and safety policies are followed.
• Document daily checks and balance transfers to the office.
• Participate in Health & Safety Management System activities.
• Keep plant area clean and safe.

Your Opportunity at SECURE

AsFacility Operator you are responsible for for the day-to-day safe and customer service-oriented operations of waste treatment, oil treatment and water injection. Operators actively assist with standard operating procedures, hazard assessments, safety programs and environment protection, while keeping in constant contact with customers and demonstrating excellent communications skills and a high level of customer service.

This position is based out of Valleyview, AB.

Work Environment

The schedule for this position is structured as a 7-on / 7-off rotation of 12-hour shifts, alternating between days and nights.

A Day in The Life

• Responsible and accountable for the day-to-day operation of the facility
• Responsible for truck unloading, oil emulsion and water & vac trucks
• Responsible for oil treating with the treater, cooler or tank treating
• Participating in waste processing, waste and mud tank operation, shaker & centrifuge operations and solids treating
• Responsible and accountable for the receipt, terminal storage and transportation of crude oil while adhering to Measurement & Crude Oil Quality compliance
• Managing ongoing water injection, filter changing and pump maintenance
• Conducting treatment of solids on the waste pad
• Conducting boiler operations, testing and steam system operations
• Ensuring that all corporate compliance programs are adhered to
• Submitting truck tickets summary, daily plant checklists, and balance and transfers to the office
• Participates in the Health & Safety Management System (HSMS)
• Waste plant operation (ensuring solids processing is meeting or exceeding landfill criteria and solids testing)
• Following water injection SOP’s and best practices to protect the disposal well integrity
• General maintenance, ensure that the plant is kept clean and safe

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

• A High School Diploma, General Education Diploma or equivalent
• Operational experience in waste processing, oil treating or water injection is considered a strong asset
• Waste management experience is considered a strong asset
• Specialty training in boilers, treaters, pumps (all), repairs, shaker/centrifuge and loader is considered an asset
• Current and valid safety tickets, including H2S Alive, First Aid Level One C, Confined Space Entry, WHIMS and TDG
• A strong attention to detail, communication skills with the ability to work long hours in a mentally and physically demanding work environment
• Must be able to document their work, perform and manage cross shift communication and ensure strategic communication with multiple stakeholders
• Must be able to multi-task and demonstrate excellent decision-making skills with the ability to troubleshoot issues
• Must demonstrate excellent customer service skills and safe work practices
• A valid and acceptable Driver’s license and successful completion of pre-employment testing
