Job summary

SECURE is seeking a dedicated Short Haul Driver based in Weyburn, SK. You will transport waste materials, perform vehicle inspections, and deliver top-tier customer service while adhering to safety and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Valid Class 1 driver's license and clean abstract.
  • Minimum three years of professional driving experience.
  • Strong knowledge of hours-of-service regulations and load securement.
  • Familiarity with TDG regulations and placarding.
  • Experience operating roll-off, bed, or winch tractors.
  • Willingness to travel across Saskatchewan and western Canada.
  • Flexible to irregular or extended shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Operate roll-off hook trucks and trailers safely and ensure loads stay secured.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and maintain compliance.
  • Complete necessary documentation and logs in a timely manner.
  • Communicate effectively with Dispatch and customers daily.
  • Conduct minor preventative maintenance and check waste materials alignment.

Your Opportunity at SECURE

As Short Haul Driver, you will be responsible for safely transporting waste materials, performing vehicle inspections, and delivering exceptional customer service. You will work closely with dispatch and customers to ensure timely, efficient operations while maintaining a strong commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.

This role is based out of Weyburn, SK and requires travel to customer and SECURE sites throughout the province.

Work Environment

The Short Haul Driver role operates Monday to Friday, with occasional opportunities for overtime and on-call work.

A Day in The Life
  • Safe Operation of Equipment: Operate roll-off hook trucks and trailers, as well as moffet trucks and trailers, in a safe and responsible manner. Ensure loads are properly secured and remain within legal load limits, while navigating various weather conditions and challenging job site environments
  • Regulatory Compliance & Inspections: Adhere to all applicable site and jurisdictional traffic safety laws. Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of transport units and loads in accordance with jurisdictional and NSC standards. Accurately complete all required labels, including shipping name, generator name, approval number, TDG class, UN number, packing group number, load number, and related information
  • Documentation & Reporting: Accurately complete and submit all necessary documentation in a timely manner. This includes logbooks, equipment inspection reports, time tickets, manifests, trip records, and fuel and credit card receipts. Attend SECURE Energy safety meetings and ensure all daily safety paperwork is properly completed
  • Adherence to Safety Protocols: Comply with all SECURE and customer‑specific safety policies, procedures, and best practices always
  • Effective Communication: Maintain clear and consistent communication with Dispatch daily to ensure efficient operations and high levels of customer service
  • Preventative Maintenance & Waste Inspection: Perform minor preventative maintenance tasks, such as greasing, air filter checks, brake adjustments, and settings. Inspect waste materials to confirm alignment with manifest, recycle docket, and bill of lading descriptions
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
  • Possession of a valid Class 1 driver’s license
  • A clean and current driver’s abstract
  • Minimum of three years of professional driving experience within the transportation industry
  • Strong understanding of hours-of-service regulations, load securement practices, and applicable driving laws
  • Well‑versed in Canadian geography, major highway systems, and remote oilfield locations
  • Previous experience operating roll‑off trucks, bed trucks, or winch tractors is required
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including irregular or extended hours with variable start and end times.
  • Knowledge of Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) regulations, with specific expertise in placarding and manifest documentation
