Job description

Your Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Project Engineer or EIT to join the team in our Burnaby, BC office. The successful candidate must be available to work on-site in North Vancouver.

Your Key Responsibilities
  1. Coordinate design among various technical disciplines for a major wastewater treatment plant project.
  2. Provide technical and coordination support during construction.
  3. Lead and/or participate in meetings with client Operations & Maintenance staff to identify and implement design optimization initiatives.
  4. Understand and interpret client expectations, standards, and specifications.
  5. Coordinate work within a multidisciplinary, multi-office team environment requiring exceptional communication and organizational skills.
  6. Perform work in accordance with Stantec and client quality programs, and applicable codes and standards of the jurisdiction.
  7. Coordinate the preparation, review, and approval of engineering design deliverables.
  8. Lead and participate in periodic project status meetings with the client, design consultants, and construction contractors.
  9. Participate in typical design meetings including scope, engineering, design, specifications, PFD/P&ID drawings, line list, tie-in list, equipment lists, controls, and HAZOP.
  10. Liaise with the construction contractor, design consultants, and client’s technical staff.
  11. Review deliverables from various consultants and communicate findings to the client.
  12. Perform quality assurance for work deliverables before submission to the client.
  13. Monitor client satisfaction for work completed.
  14. Support commissioning, start-up, and turnover activities as needed.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
  1. 2-5 years of relevant project engineering experience, including liaising with clients and exposure to infrastructure construction.
  2. Experience with Canadian jurisdictions and their various acts and regulations.
  3. Team player with the ability to build positive relationships with technical and corporate staff from consultants, clients, and contractors.
  4. Focused on providing quality services to clients in a timely manner.
  5. High level of initiative and ability to complete tasks.
  6. Strong written, spoken, and interpersonal communication skills.
  7. Ability to work at a site office 2-5 days per week, located on the North Shore.
Education and Credentials
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Process, Mechanical, E&I/C, Structural, or relevant engineering field.
  2. Registered Engineer in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineering (P.Eng or P.L.Eng) designation with EGBC or equivalent.

Additional Information
  • Salary Range: Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in BC (Lower Mainland includes Vancouver & Burnaby): $76,500 - $110,900.
  • Note: The final compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. Certain roles are bonus eligible at Stantec.
