Job summary

Randstad Canada is seeking a project manager for Structured Cabling projects in Ottawa. You will lead project implementation from intake to delivery, manage contractors, and ensure alignment with client requirements. The ideal candidate has 3-5 years in project management, strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills, and is proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Bilingualism in French and PMP designation are assets. The pay rate is $48.00–$51.00 per hour.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years in project management related to Structured Cabling; construction management or PMP is an asset.
  • Strong analytical and critical‑thinking skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent time-management and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Excel emphasized.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Cabling and/or outside plant experience is a strong asset.
  • PMP designation is an asset.
  • BICSI credentials such as RCDD, OSP or RTPM are an asset.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate all aspects of project implementation, from initial request intake to final delivery, ensuring alignment with client requirements and internal processes.
  • Provide technical expertise for Structured Cabling projects, including the review and clarification of drawings and specifications, and the development of accurate scopes and estimates.
  • Oversee and manage contractors to ensure timely completion of approved projects, adhering to client‑imposed schedules and deadlines.
  • Manage material purchasing and arrival in a just‑in‑time environment.
  • Monitor project progress and proactively identify potential risks, implementing mitigation strategies to minimize disruptions and ensure smooth execution.
  • Work closely with internal teams, contractors, and other stakeholders to resolve construction issues, discrepancies in requirements, and scope changes.
  • Manage client expectations through regular updates, meetings, and reports on project progress, ensuring clear and effective communication.
  • Manage invoicing and revenue recognition, ensuring that all costs align with the budget and project scope.
Qualifications
  • 3‑5 years in project management related to Structured Cabling; experience in construction management or PMP is an asset.
  • Strong analytical and critical‑thinking skills, with the ability to solve complex problems and make informed decisions.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Excellent time‑management and organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with a strong emphasis on Excel.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Bilingualism (French) is a very strong asset.
  • Cabling experience and/or outside plant experience is a strong asset.
  • PMP designation is an asset.
  • BICSI credentials such as RCDD, OSP or RTPM are an asset.

Pay rate is $48.00–$51.00 per hour.
