Job description

At ATB, we exist to make it possible for our clients, team members and communities. Our purpose is more than aspirational. It's a real commitment we live every day through our values (what we call the ATB ID).

Life at ATB is about more than work. In fact, we’re consistently recognized as one of Canada's top employers thanks to our high-care, high-performance culture, upheld by the three commitments we make to our team members:

Impact in action: No matter where you are in the organization, you're empowered to make an impact in the lives of our clients and communities.

Thrive together: We want you—the unique, authentic you—to feel safe and celebrated at work. We're on a continuous journey to build the most flexible and inclusive programs.

Ready for tomorrow: We want to enable your success through interesting and challenging work, performance enablement, and learning and development.

About the Role

This position has a hybrid work arrangement. On average, this means 2 day(s) on-site per week. Please note that this is subject to change due to business priorities.

As ATB’s next Project Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role supporting strategic initiatives across ATB’s Digital and Wealth project portfolios while building a clear runway for your own career growth. Working closely alongside experienced Program and Project Managers, you will help keep projects on track, within budget, and aligned with strategic objectives. This role is ideal for an ambitious professional looking to refine their project management toolkit, gain high-visibility experience, and actively grow into a Project Manager role.

Accountabilities

  • Project Tracking: Partner with Senior Project and Program Managers to develop, update, and monitor project plans, schedules, and deliverables across ATB’s Digital and Wealth portfolios.

  • Documentation & Governance: Maintain centralized, audit-ready project documentation (charters, scope documents, risk registers, and lessons-learned logs).

  • Financial & Progress Monitoring: Track project expenditures against budgets, flag potential variances, and draft status reports for key stakeholders.

  • Risk & Issue Escalation: Help identify potential roadblocks early, document risks, and support the implementation of mitigation strategies to keep projects on schedule.

  • Central Liaison: Serve as a key operational point-of-contact for cross-functional project teams, external vendors, and internal stakeholders.

  • Meeting & Action Tracking: Organize critical project rituals-preparing agendas, capturing decision-focused minutes, and proactively driving action-item follow-ups.

  • Reporting: Assist in creating compelling updates, dashboards, and executive presentations that highlight portfolio health and project performance.

  • Resource Coordination: Assist in coordinating project resources, onboarding team members, and organizing tooling required for delivery.

  • Financial Administration: Support vendor invoicing, purchase orders, and basic financial tracking associated with project activities.

  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in post-project retrospectives to refine processes, adopt emerging best practices, and optimize project delivery toolkits.

Skills, Experience & Requirements

Requirements:

  • 1-3 years in a Project Coordinator, Junior PM, or high-level administrative support role within a structured project environment.

  • Strong hands-on experience with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides) and general project tracking tools.

  • Exceptional ability to prioritize multiple moving parts, manage shifting deadlines, and maintain immaculate project records.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a natural ability to connect, build trust, and work cross-functionally.

  • A proactive, detail-oriented mindset that spots potential issues early and comes to the table with ideas.

Assets (Nice-to-Haves):

  • A demonstrated passion for building a career in project management, paired with an active pursuit of (or holding) a recognized credential such as CAPM, PMP, or similar certification.

  • Familiarity with modern project delivery frameworks (Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid).

  • Hands-on experience with Jira or Smartsheet would be an asset but not required.
