Job summary

Municipal Group of Companies seeks a Project Coordinator to assist in planning, executing, and delivering projects on time and within budget. The role supports field operations, coordinating testing of anchors and piles, and ensuring quality and proper communication with stakeholders.

The successful candidate will have a civil engineering or construction management background, strong analytical skills, and be willing to travel across the Maritimes.

Qualifications

• University degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management preferred.
• Small drone pilot and flying experience considered and asset.
• Strong financial acumen and analytical/problem solving skills.
• Experience with 3-D printing and drilling/heavy civil construction is an asset.
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and ability to travel the Maritimes.

Responsibilities

• Prepare schedules and handoffs for awarded work; assist with subcontractor management.
• Field testing activities including anchors and piles; coordinate testing with consultants.
• Plan project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.
• Support drilling superintendents and foreman; facilitate communication with stakeholders.
• Track project life cycle from planning to completion; monitor costs and budget.
• Assist in job costing and update quantities for progress payments.
• Read blueprints to estimate project costs and liaise with subcontractors.
• Contribute to safety deliverables and promote safety culture.
• Support process improvement initiatives and on-site/office tasks as needed.

Innovative Drilling, Eastern Canadas Premier Foundation and Shoring Company, part of the Municipal Group, is a diversified Construction Company that delivers creative solutions to geotechnical challenges. We are currently looking for a Project Coordinator to join our operations based out of Bedford, NS.

Job Summary

The Project Coordinator will assist in the planning, executing, and delivery of Company projects on time, within budget, and in accordance with specifications. The Project Coordinator will help define project requirements and scope, acquire project resources, and support the efforts of project team members. Efficient delivery of project requirements, effective quality control, clear communication of expectations to stakeholders and upward reporting to senior management are critical tasks that must be performed. In addition to office-based tasks the project coordinator will be required to support field operations on site such as physical testing of anchors, piles and other products of productions.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

• Prepare schedules and job hand off for awarded work, assist with subcontractor management, site meetings, scheduling etc.;
• Physically complete anchor, pile and other forms of load testing/measurements in field;
• Coordinate testing of anchors, piles etc. with consultants and manage testing inventories/equipment to ensure they are maintained and available as required;
• Aid in planning of all project timelines, milestones, and requirements using the appropriate software tools and/or methods;
• Communicate to and support drilling superintendents and foreman as required.
• Coordinate project life cycle, from the initial planning, bidding, operations, up to project
• completion;
• Assist in day-to-day tasks both in the office and in the field
• Actively participate in required safety deliverables and promote a positive safety culture
• Support implementation of process improvement initiatives
• Appropriately track project progress, and track all project costs to ensure completion within budget;
• Assist in job costing, updating quantities for progress payments etc.
• Read blueprints in order to estimate project cost effectively;
• Liaise with subcontractors and trades on various estimates towards the construction project;
• Communicate and collaborate with departmental leaders to stay abreast of construction needs, budgeting, and evaluation of possible bids;
• Any other duties as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, And Experience

• University degree in Civil Engineering or other Construction Management program is preferred;
• Small drone pilot and flying experience considered and asset.
• Solid Financial Acumen
• Experience with 3-D printing considered and asset.
• Experience in Drilling or Heavy Civil Construction would be considered an asset.
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
• Ability to work as part of a construction team;
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills;

• High level of sound and independent judgment and reasoning;
• Ability to respond in pressure situations with a calm demeanor and high sense of urgency
• Ability to travel throughout the Maritimes to support various projects.

Working Conditions

The Project Coordinator may be required to work long office hours and use a computer. Field work and company site visits will frequently be required, and will require the use of minimum PPE (Hardhat, Steel Toe Boots, reflective vest, etc.). Other PPE might also be necessary and will be driven by the environment of the work sites (specialized PPE, Gas monitors, Fall Arrest and Breathing Apparatus). Other travel on behalf of the company may be necessary to represent the Company or Project.
