Job summary

Irving Oil is seeking a Project Controls Specialist to support capital projects and Turnarounds at the Saint John Refinery. You will develop baselines, monitor performance, manage cost controls, and deliver timely reporting to enable safe, on-time, and on-budget project execution.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, maintain reliable project data, and provide insights to inform decision-making across the portfolio.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Business, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum three years of relevant experience in project controls, project management, engineering, construction, or a related business environment.
• Experience with Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, SAP, Oracle, Power BI, or Power Apps; PMP or AACE certification would be assets.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain project baselines, forecasts, and cost control tools throughout the project lifecycle.
• Ensure project controls align with approved cost estimates and Primavera P6 schedules.
• Monitor project costs, commitments, and forecast performance against budgets.
• Analyze project performance trends and identify risks, opportunities, and variances.
• Manage change control processes and contingency tracking.
• Prepare and deliver accurate, timely project cost and performance reports to stakeholders.
• Partner with project teams, contractors, and suppliers to validate scope and monitor project commitments.
• Support annual Turnarounds and capital project planning, execution, and reporting activities.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance project controls, reporting, and data management practices.
