Irving Oil is seeking a Project Controls Specialist to support capital projects and Turnarounds at the Saint John Refinery. You will develop baselines, monitor performance, manage cost controls, and deliver timely reporting to enable safe, on-time, and on-budget project execution.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, maintain reliable project data, and provide insights to inform decision-making across the portfolio.

Competenze

  • Post-secondary education in Business, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum three years of relevant experience in project controls, project management, engineering, construction, or a related business environment.
  • Experience with Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, SAP, Oracle, Power BI, or Power Apps; PMP or AACE certification would be assets.

  • Develop and maintain project baselines, forecasts, and cost control tools throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure project controls align with approved cost estimates and Primavera P6 schedules.

As a Project Controls Specialist, you will support the successful delivery of capital projects and annual Turnarounds at our Saint John Refinery by developing project baselines, monitoring performance, managing cost controls, and delivering accurate, timely reporting. Your goal will be to ensure procedures, reporting, and data are streamlined where possible while supporting safe, on-time, and on-budget project execution. Your success will come from partnering closely with cross-functional teams, maintaining reliable project data and controls, and providing clear insights that support effective decision-making across the project portfolio.

Your Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain project baselines, forecasts, and cost control tools throughout the project lifecycle

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to interpret project performance data and identify trends
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present information and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholder groups
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and database tools
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships across engineering, procurement, construction, operations, finance, safety, quality, and contractor teams

Your Experience

  • Minimum three years of relevant experience in project controls, project management, engineering, construction, or a related business environment

The expected salary range for this position is $80,836.00 - $107,108. Placement within range will be based on relevant experience, qualifications, and skills
