Job Summary

We are seeking a Project Controller to support the successful planning, execution, and financial management of projects. The candidate will work closely with project managers to monitor budgets, track progress, control costs, and ensure that projects are delivered on time and within scope. The candidate will correspond with customers, partners, and subcontractors to ensure all invoices and accounts are settled accurately and on time. The position has flexible office hour requirements and work location with preference given to candidates in the Mississauga area.

Your Responsibilities

  • Create, develop, and maintain project budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.
  • Monitor project performance and provide regular cost control reports.
  • Track project progress, milestones, and deliverables using appropriate tools.
  • Identify and analyze variances in cost and schedule performance.
  • Monitor financial performance of project costs and budget targets to increase revenues and reduce costs of project execution.
  • Process and verify invoices from vendors, ensuring accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
  • Design, employ and administer Accounts Payable procedures which will reduce the risk of phishing, and fraudulent payments.
  • Monitor aging accounts and follow up with customers on overdue payments.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure accurate and timely invoicing.
  • Review and process employee expense reports, including supporting documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide insight on financial impacts and metrics.
  • Prepare documentation for project performance and data for financial results, audits, and executive reviews.

Your Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Admin or related field.
  • 2-5 years of experience in project control, financial analysis, or project management support.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other financial software/tools.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in Odoo ERP considered as an asset.
  • Experience working in the railroad (or technical) industry considered as an asset.
