Job summary

Amico Group of Companies is seeking a Project Accountant to support the EGS contract for The Ontario Line. You will manage full-cycle project accounting, including payables, receivables, accruals, and month-end close, while preparing monthly reports and monitoring costs and cash flow.

You will work with the Finance and Commercial team to ensure compliance with budgets, accounting standards, and internal controls, collaborating with project managers and external auditors as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• CPA designation is required.
• 5+ years proven experience as an accountant, preferably in the construction industry.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
• Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, SAP, or Oracle.

Responsibilities

• Perform full-cycle accounting activities, including managing accounts receivable, accounts payable, holdback accounts, HST filings, accruals, and other related tasks.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Prepare and maintain monthly financial reports, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
• Monitor project costs, expenses, and revenues, ensuring accuracy and compliance with budgetary constraints.
• Review and reconcile project-related accounts, including payables, receivables, and general ledger accounts.
• Collaborate with project managers to track project progress and identify potential cost overruns or savings opportunities.
• Conduct regular financial audits and reviews to ensure compliance with internal policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Provide financial analysis and support to project teams, including variance analysis, cost benefit analysis, and cash flow projections.
• Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory agencies as needed.
• Stay informed about changes in accounting regulations and industry best practices related to project accounting.
