Job summary

Aplin is seeking a Project Accountant for our client in Richmond, BC. This permanent, full-time role focuses on project accounting within a general contracting environment, offering on-site work five days a week and opportunities for professional development.

Ideal candidates will have 3–6 years of accounting experience in construction, strong Excel skills, and familiarity with project-based financial processes. On-site in Richmond, BC, with a collaborative team culture.

Qualifications

• 3–6 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Previous accounting experience in general contracting/construction.
• Experience with larger-scale construction projects is an asset.
• Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills; Power BI experience is an asset.
• AS400/IBM systems experience is an asset but training will be provided.
• Must be on-site 5 days per week in Richmond, BC.

Responsibilities

• Review project-related contracts and subcontractor documentation to ensure project setup and accounting procedures align with contract terms and conditions.
• Collect, reconcile, obtain approval for, and process subcontractor payments, general expenditures, internal payroll costing allocations, and other project-related financial transactions.
• Prepare and assemble client billing packages in accordance with established processes and approval requirements.
• Maintain accurate and timely project cash flow information, including current and forecasted data.
• Assist the Project Manager with monthly financial reporting for owners, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
• Support the project team by identifying financial issues, reconciling discrepancies, and helping develop practical solutions.
• Ensure financial transactions and reporting are completed accurately and within required deadlines.

Our client, a leading construction organization, is looking for a Project Accountant to join their team in Richmond, BC. • Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• Strong organizational, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills; Power BI experience is an asset.
• Experience with AS400/IBM systems is an asset but not required, as training will be provided.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently within a project environment.
• Must be comfortable working 5 days per week on-site in Richmond, BC.
