Job summary

Based in Coquitlam, Canada, Impact Recruitment is assisting a long‑standing mechanical contractor to hire a Project Accountant. The role supports monthly review, billing, budgets, and job cost reporting under the Controller.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of project accounting experience and a Diploma or degree in accounting. This is an in-office, five‑day-per-week position with a salary of CAD 75,000–CAD 85,000 and benefits including extended health, dental, and 3 weeks of vacation.

Responsibilities

• Support monthly project review and forecasting processes by analyzing financial data and identifying trends.
• Prepare and process client billings, review project costs, monitor budgets, and prepare job cost reports.
• Assist with monthly project reconciliations, including contract, subcontract, and cost reviews.
• Partner with Project Managers to manage contract documentation, change orders, and project financial updates.
• Review and process approved change orders.
• Review subcontractor progress claims, resolve discrepancies, and ensure invoices align with contractual requirements.
• Apply contract terms and project requirements to support accurate billing, payment processing, and reporting.
• Create and maintain project setups within construction accounting systems, including budgets, subcontract information, insurance details, and compliance records.
• Ensure project accounting deadlines are consistently met and financial records remain accurate and up to date.
• Investigate job cost variances and collaborate with Project Managers to resolve discrepancies.
• Ad hoc duties as required.

Based in Coquitlam, our client is an established mechanical contractor that has been in business for over 10 years. They are currently looking to add an experienced Project Accountant to their team. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of relevant project accounting experience.

ABOUT THE POSITION
