Pearl Builders Group - Project Accountant
Pearl Builders Group is a commercial and residential real estate project management company with over 20 years of experience. We manage a wide range of projects from construction to property management, including design/build, new builds, refurbishments, and fit-outs for various companies.
We are currently seeking an experienced Project Accountant to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive financial reporting and monthly updates to senior management for current projects and investments.
- Prepare annual financial statements and supporting working paper files.
- Coordinate with external accounting firms for review/audit engagements.
- Ensure all real estate activities (leasing, property tax, insurance, legal, etc.) are accurately accounted for and cost tracking is maintained.
- Assist in monthly and yearly closings, including analyzing and reconciling general ledgers.
- Develop and enforce internal controls to protect company assets, policies, procedures, and workflows.
- Create and maintain spreadsheets to monitor cash flow, ACH, and EFT payments, ensuring liquidity standards are met.
- Maintain records for fixed assets and land inventory.
- Establish financial benchmarks, budgets, and reporting standards on a monthly and annual basis.
- Provide cash flow budgets in coordination with project teams.
- Update and submit construction draw requests for financing.
- Manage the master budget for company expenses and review discrepancies with senior management.
- Prepare quarterly reports and forecasts for the fiscal year, reviewing with the executive team.
Minimum Requirements:
- Business Administration degree or diploma; knowledge of QuickBooks or other accounting software is an asset.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in accounting, accounts payable/receivable, or analytical roles.
- Thorough knowledge of accounts payable, receivable, accounting policies, journal entries, and accruals.
- Understanding of accounting standards, construction accounting practices, banking processes, and financial data analysis is an asset.
- Ability to process large volumes of invoices and payments efficiently.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of assignments.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and MS Outlook.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Professional certification such as CPA is an asset.
