Job summary

Eating Disorders Nova Scotia in Halifax seeks a Programs Manager to oversee all aspects of our programs—planning, budgeting, staff leadership, partnerships, implementation and evaluation. You will coordinate peer support, clinician-led groups, in-person programs and events, and educational activities from our 2711 Agricola Street location.

The role requires post-secondary education in health services management or related field and at least 3 years of progressive leadership experience in program

Eating Disorders Nova Scotia is a community-based organization with an audacious belief; that no-one should have to face an eating disorder alone. We draw upon the lived experience of those who have been through an eating disorder to create a welcoming, pro-recovery space and supports that are validating and compassionate. About the position

ThePrograms Manager is responsible foroverseeingall aspects of our programs includingproject planning,budgets, partnership development, engagement, staffing,program implementation, and evaluation.

The Programs Manager manages a dynamic and committed team who coordinate our peer support programs, clinician led groups, in-person programs and events, workshops and educational work. The Programs Managerseeks out and responds to community needs, and stays informed on sector trends,eating disorders research, reports, and newsimpacting service delivery.An experienced non-profit leader, the Program Manager builds and nurtures partnerships, manages the sustainable growth of our programs and services, and ensures quality. ThePrograms Manager reports directly to the Executive Director

This is a regular, full-time position working 37.5 hours per week, generally Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work and travel may be required. The position is based at 2711 Agricola Street in Halifax, with opportunities for occasional hybrid work in accordance with organizational policy.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, development, delivery and evaluation of programs and services, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, funder requirements, and best practices.
• Ensure peer support programs are delivered in alignment with established peer support values, principles, and practices, preserving the integrity and fidelity of the peer support approach
• Develop and implement detailed work plans for the group or project team including tasks, priorities, accountabilities, resources, schedules and milestones.
• Assist with funding proposal development.
• Oversee accurate documentation, data management, and the use of technology to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
• Implements processes and procedures to regularly and consistently evaluate quality and effectiveness of our work. Monitor program outcomes and prepare reports for funders and leadership.
• Proactively build, maintain and enhance working relationships with key partners, collaborations, and sector networksto advance our mission.
• Facilitates change and empowers employees to grow while promoting group cohesion, shared purpose and engagement. Creates a work environment that encourages self-awareness, continuous learning, and sustainable approaches to work.
• Provide coaching, mentorship, training, and performance management for program staff, contractors, students, and volunteers.
• Ensure compliance with organizational policies, health and safety standards, and funder requirements.
• Manage program budgets, monitor expenditures, support funding processes, and ensure financial accountability, including expense approvals and revenue tracking.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Health Services Management, Human Services, Non-profit Leadership, Project Management, or related field.
• Minimum of 3+ years of progressive leadership experience in program administration/management
• Proven ability to manage staff
• Experience managing program budgets
• Experience in facilitating and driving quality improvement and ensuring excellence in standards of service.
• Ability to develop and cultivate strong strategic relationships with community partners, stakeholders, and external agencies.
• Advanced technical proficiency, including data systems, reporting, and information management.
• Detail-oriented, self-initiating, well-organized, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously and independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong verbal and written communications skills across a range of technologies and contexts in a manner that builds trust, respect and credibility, including in-person and technology-assisted communication.
• Knowledge of the non-profit sector, the mental health landscape in Nova Scotia, peer support and eating disorders recovery an asset.
