Job summary

The City of Grande Prairie seeks two Casual Program Instructor II’s to lead PlayCare services at the Eastlink Centre. You will plan and implement age-appropriate programming for children 0-5 and 6-12 in a warm, play-based setting, ensuring safety and high-quality supervision.

Successful candidates will show leadership, strong communication with families and staff, and adaptability for evening and weekend shifts as needed. The role offers casual on-call hours with CUPE wage considerations.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled or completed post secondary education in Education, Early Childhood Education, Recreation Studies or a related field.
  • Standard First Aid, CPR level C and AED training required prior to hire date.
  • Intervention Check and Police Record Check (completed within 1 month of employment).
  • At least one year of previous experience leading children's recreation and sport programming, or relevant training.
  • A clear understanding of 'child-centered programming' and an ability to supervise and manage the safety of 30 children with the assistance of a team member.
  • Confidence to make on-the-spot decisions, adapting quickly to group dynamics.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written with supervisors, co-workers, children and parents.
  • Ability to present yourself in a positive and professional manner.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise activities while ensuring participant safety and high-quality care.

Our Recreation Department is seeking two Casual Program Instructor II’s to join the team.

Position Responsibilities

The City of GrandePrairie is looking for a creative and enthusiastic individual to join our teamfor PlayCare Services at the Eastlink Centre. As a Program Instructor you willbe responsible for planning and implementing age appropriate programing for childrenaged 0 - 5 in a warm, welcoming, play-based setting, as well as children aged 6- 12 in a fun, active, play-based setting. You will be a part of an energeticteam devoted to social, physical, emotional, intellectual, and relativedevelopment of children. You will ensure the safety of the participants whileproviding high quality care and supervision. Our Program Instructors willdemonstrate leadership and a positive approach to play and play-based learningon a daily basis.

Current CUPE JobClassification: Facilitates thedelivery of a program; supervises and instructs participants; receives guidanceor works in a team situation.

Primary Focus: OurProgram Instructors will demonstrate leadership and a positive approach to playand play-based learning on a daily basis. Successful candidates will helping toexpose children to a variety of activities including cooking, athletics, arts,and more. They must be flexible and available to work evenings and weekends andhave prior experience planning programs for children aged 0 -12.

Qualifications

The successfulcandidate must be 18 years of age and possess the following:

Compensation

Salary of $19.67 asper the CUPE Collective Agreement.
