Job summary

The John Howard Society of Brandon is seeking a Program Facilitator to deliver structured, curriculum-based programming for adults, youth, and fathers, focusing on healthy relationships, skill development, self-awareness, and positive behavioural change.

You will create a safe, inclusive learning environment, lead discussions and activities, adapt to diverse learning styles, and collaborate with partners to support participant progress.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate curriculum-based group and individual programs for adults, youth, and fathers.
• Deliver Anger Management, Building Healthy Relationships, Caring Dads, and other programs.
• Create a safe, respectful, inclusive, and non-judgmental learning environment.
• Lead discussions, activities, role plays, and other experiential learning exercises.
• Encourage participant engagement, accountability, self-reflection, and goal-setting.
• Adapt facilitation approaches to respond to learning styles and participant needs.
• Maintain appropriate professional and group boundaries.
• Manage group dynamics and respond to challenging behavior calmly.
• Encourage attendance, participation, and successful program completion.
• Support participant intake and orientation processes as required.
• Identify participants who may benefit from additional supports or referrals.
• Respond to disclosures, concerns, and emerging needs appropriately.
• Maintain attendance records and facilitator observation reports.
• Document incidents, participant progress, and achievements as required.

The Program Facilitator delivers structured, curriculum-based programming for adults, youth, and fathers through the John Howard Society of Brandon. Programs focus on building healthy relationships, developing skills, increasing self-awareness, and supporting positive behavioural change.

This is meaningful work for someone who enjoys working with people, facilitating honest and sometimes challenging conversations, and helping participants develop practical skills they can use in their relationships, families, and communities.

Programs are offered during daytime, evening, and weekend hours, and travel is required.

• Facilitate curriculum-based group and individual programs for adults, youth, and fathers.

• Create a safe, respectful, inclusive, and non-judgmental learning environment.
• Lead discussions, activities, role plays, and other experiential learning exercises.
• Encourage participant engagement, accountability, self-reflection, and goal-setting.
• Adapt facilitation approaches to respond to different learning styles, abilities, and participant needs while maintaining program fidelity.
• Establish and maintain appropriate professional and group boundaries.
• Manage group dynamics and respond to challenging or disruptive behaviour in a calm, respectful, and constructive manner.
• Encourage attendance, participation, and successful program completion.
• Support participant intake and orientation processes as required.
• Identify participants who may benefit from additional supports or community referrals.
• Respond appropriately to participant disclosures, concerns, and emerging needs.
• Maintain accurate attendance records and facilitator observation reports.
• Document incidents, concerns, participant progress, and achievements as required.
• Maintain confidential records in accordance with privacy and organizational requirements.
• Submit required reports and documentation within established timelines.
• Prepare program materials and learning resources.

Preferred Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, Child and Youth Care, Criminal Justice, Human Services, Education, or a related field.
• Experience facilitating psychoeducational, behaviour-change, parenting, relationship, or life-skills programs.
• Experience working with justice-involved individuals, families, youth, or other vulnerable populations.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and participant-centred practices.
• Experience working with Indigenous individuals, families, and communities.
• Understanding of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action and principles of cultural safety.
• Experience with Anger Management, Building Healthy Relationships, Caring Dads, or similar evidence-informed programming.

Certifications and Requirements

• Must have reliable transportation and be able to travel to program locations.
• Availability to facilitate programs during daytime, evening, and weekend hours is required.
• Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check.
• Satisfactory Child Abuse Registry Check.
• Additional screening or training may be required based on program or funder requirements.
