CNIB is looking for a Program Coordinator for Vision Mates and Peer Support in Edmonton, Northern Alberta. Job description

Position Title: Program Coordinator – Vision Mates and Peer Support (Northern AB)

Location: Edmonton

Reports To: Senior Manager, Programs and Operations

I. Scope and Summary of Primary Responsibilities

This position will deliver and sustain high quality Vision Mates and Peer Mentorship services in Northern Alberta by recruiting and supervising volunteers for these programs, coordinating peer groups and matches, maintaining Salesforce records for program activity, and ensuring excellent participant experience.

II. Essential Functions

The position entails, but is not limited to the following general responsibilities:

  • Volunteer recruitment and frontline supervision - recruit, screen, onboard, train, and supervise volunteers for Vision Mates and Peer Mentorship in Northern AB.
  • Program delivery - schedule, facilitate, and support peer groups and Vision Mates matches; ensure participant follow up and quality of experience. develops and implements new programs as required by National/Regional directives or participant needs
  • Participant engagement - build relationships with participants and implement volunteer recognition initiatives
  • Data entry and local reporting - maintain Salesforce records for program activity; produce timely local program summaries and contribute to funder reporting when necessary.
  • Local logistics - coordinates venue bookings for support groups, materials, and travel for local activities.
  • Collaboration - work with Mobile Hub, Accessible Technology Coaches, Children and Youth and the Senior Manager, Programs and Operations Manager to align processes and share best practices.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and superior interpersonal skills.

  • Proven time management, planning, coordinating and organization skills.
  • Portrays the appropriate professional image
  • Excellent relationship/team builder and networking skills with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills to work to concurrent and/or conflicting deadlines
  • Proven time management, planning, coordinating and organization skills; proactive in initiating multiple projects on an ongoing basis
  • Professional attitude, results oriented, strategic and flexible
  • Demonstrates mature and sensitive nature when dealing with the needs of persons living with vision loss
Experience and Education
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field
  • 1-3 years in volunteer coordination or program delivery
  • Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to travel and work independently.
  • Experience with peer support or mentorship programs an asset.
  • Volunteer Management Certificate from accredited program would be an asset
  • Personal or professional experience relating to blindness or sight loss is considered an asset
  • Willingness to work flexible hours (including occasional evenings and weekends) to support program delivery as needed.
