The Southern Alberta Chapter of the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society’s mission is to protect and conserve the vital ecological function of Southern Alberta’s public lands and waters in a way that advances reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples. We work toward these goals through education, engagement, and collaboration with Albertans of all backgrounds.

Position Summary — Program Coordinator

Do you have a passion for connecting people to nature and empowering youth to become conservation leaders in their communities?

The Southern Alberta Chapter of the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS SAB) is seeking a motivated and organized Program Coordinator to join our team in Calgary, Alberta (hybrid). This is a one-year term position (30 hours per week) with opportunities for professional growth in conservation advocacy, youth engagement, and project management.

As a Program Coordinator with CPAWS Southern Alberta, you will play a key role in advancing our organization’s goals of educating and engaging a diverse community, in order to foster advocacy skills for long-term support of conservation. In this role, you will also support the smooth administration and operations of our organization.

Responsibilities :

  • Program Support

Project management of the Youth Conservation Collective, including coordinating project staff, tasks, timelines and overseeing digital communications.

  • Program administration support chapter-wide.
  • Assist with delivery of chapter outreach, engagement, and events.
  • Support chapter program evaluation and grant reporting.

Administration Support

  • Daily management of chapter’s main phone, email inbox, mail, and office communication.
  • Maintaining the chapter’s digital and hard copy filing systems including organization and management of the SharePoint filing system.
  • Maintaining office supplies.
  • Making bank deposits as necessary.
  • Coordinating and supporting staff meetings and note taking.
  • Support bookkeeping tasks as necessary.

Position Requirements

  • Believe in and want to contribute to our mission;
  • Ability to manage a project and coordinate a project team;
  • Detail-oriented and excellent organizational skills;
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively;
  • Must have reliable transportation to travel within the Calgary area, and potentially throughout southern Alberta;
  • Ability to work some weekends and evenings;
  • Be legally eligible to work in Canada; and
  • Criminal record check.

Salary $40,000-$44,000
