Job summary

BGC Okanagan in Vernon, BC is seeking a part-time Program Area Leader for our recreation program. You will plan activities, manage facilities and licensing adherence, and promote the program at community events.

Qualifications

• Diploma or certificate in recreation or related field.
• Experience working with children in recreation or social services.
• First Aid certificate is required.
• 20 Hours Responsible Adult training or willingness to obtain it.
• Class 4 Driver's Licence or willingness to obtain it immediately.
• Successful completion of Agency screening including a Criminal Record Check.
• Must be at least 19 years of age per Provincial Licensing Regulations.

Responsibilities

• Plans and implements activities and events for the program.
• Oversees day-to-day operation and ensures facilities, equipment and guidelines are in place.
• Makes recommendations to supervisor on program development and evaluation.
• Promotes program through promotional materials and community events.
• Liaises with community service providers to coordinate service provision and referrals.
• Maintains related records and produces reports as required.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Plans and implements activities and special events for a program.
• Oversees the day-to-day operation of the program by ensuring that the necessary facilities and equipment are in place, program guidelines and policies are adhered to, and program standards and licensing requirements are met.
• Makes recommendations to the supervisor regarding program development, policy and procedure formulation, and program evaluation.
• Promotes public awareness of and support for the program by performing duties such as producing promotional materials and attending community events.
• Liaises with community service providers and other professionals to coordinate service provision, facilitate referrals to the program, and represent the organization or program in external events.
• Maintains related records and statistics and produces reports as required.

Qualifications:

• A diploma, certificate and/or relevant experience working with children in recreation, education or other social services.
• Valid First Aid certificate
• 20 Hours Responsible Adult training or willingness to obtain
• Class 4 Driver's Licence or willingness to obtain it immediately
• Successful completion of Agency screening including a Criminal Record Check
• Must be at least 19 years of age as per Provincial Licensing Regulations

Hours: 20 hours per week, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday

Rate of Pay: $19.82 per hour
