Mandate
The Program and Research Coordinator plays a central role in supporting the Centre for Studies in Religion and Society (CSRS) in fulfilling its mandate to foster interdisciplinary research and public engagement on religion in contemporary society. Reporting to the Director and guided by priorities set by the CSRS Program Committee, this position is responsible for coordinating core administrative and operational functions of the Centre, supporting research activities and communications, overseeing select programs and projects, and supervising administrative staff and student personnel. The role involves collaboration with a diverse community of scholars, staff, and external partners, and may include occasional local travel for events and meetings.
Objectives
- Oversee CSRS operations, programs, and research activities.
- Support budgeting, grant coordination, and communications.
- Supervise staff and students; improve internal processes.
The salary range (effective July 1, 2024) for this position is:
Recruitment range: $69,052- $76,129 starting salary determined by the PEA Collective Agreement.
Performance range: starting salary to max of $89,791 is available through annual performance increases.
Education
This position requires a master’s degree in a discipline related to religion and society, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience, plus a minimum 1-2 year’s experience in:
- Office and financial administration
- Project and research coordination
- Communications and outreach
- Staff supervision
- Public and academic speaking engagements
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Demonstrated interest in religion and society in Canada and globally.
- Familiarity with university research processes, grant and ethics applications.
- Proficiency with tools like HTML, Adobe Creative Suite, and financial systems.
- Experience in developing and maintaining web and print communications.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with scholars, staff, and community partners.
