Job summary

University of Toronto's Centre for Indigenous Studies invites applications for a full-time tenure-stream position in Indigenous Knowledge Systems at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2027. Preference will be given to candidates who self-identify as Indigenous.

The successful candidate will sustain an independent, externally funded research program, teach and supervise students, and help develop a graduate program.

Qualifications

• PhD in Indigenous Studies or related area with international reputation.
• Evidence of sustained high-impact publications in top journals.
• Experience building relationships with Indigenous communities and leaders.
• Ability to teach Indigenous and non-Indigenous students.

Responsibilities

• Sustain and lead an independent, externally funded research program.
• Contribute to teaching, supervision, and service load.
• Engage in development and implementation of a graduate program.
