Job summary

The Centre for Indigenous Studies at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time tenure-stream Assistant Professor in Indigenous Knowledge Systems, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2027. Location: St. George (Downtown Toronto) campus.

Candidates must hold a PhD in Indigenous Studies or related area, demonstrate research and teaching excellence, and show sustained relationships with Indigenous communities. Knowledge of Indigenous languages is an asset.

Qualifications

• PhD in Indigenous Studies or related field by appointment.
• Evidence of research excellence through publications, conferences, and references.
• Experience teaching in a degree-granting program with curriculum development and online material creation.

Responsibilities

• Pursue innovative and independent research and establish an externally funded program.
• Manage teaching and service load and contribute to graduate program development.
