Job summary

Bombardier is seeking a seasoned Mass Properties Engineer in Quebec, Canada, to support aircraft development projects and participate in weight, CG envelopes, and mass distribution analyses.

You will develop Mass Properties tools, contribute to weight targets, and supervise engineering interns while applying rigorous analysis of aircraft systems, structures, and certification processes.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in aerospace engineering.
• Strong Mass Properties experience.
• Good understanding of aircraft systems and structures.
• Knowledge of aircraft development and certification process.
• Open-minded, curious, rigorous and methodical.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication skills and ability to tailor communication to audience.
• Experience with CAD tools (Siemens NX is an asset).
• Possess a university degree in Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Support Mass Properties activities in aircraft development projects.
• Participate in Mass Properties analyses: CG envelopes, weight predictions, distribution, inertias, and related studies.
• Develop CG envelopes for different scenarios and assess mass distribution and buoyancy.
• Define weight targets and prepare weight status reports (including weight tracking).
• Develop, code and implement Mass Properties tools.
• Supervise engineering interns.

What are your contributions to the team?

• Support the Mass Properties activities of aircraft development projects.
• Participate in Mass Properties activities, such as:
  • Weight predictions at various levels of details in support of:
    • Aircraft configuration development
    • Tradeoff studies
    • Uncertainty analysis
    • Cost estimations
    • Supplier discussions and negotiations
    • Etc.
  • Preparation of center of gravity (CG) envelopes for different scenarios
  • Participation in Mass Properties detailed analysis such as:
    • Mass distribution and inertias estimations
    • Fuel migration analysis
    • Buoyancy assessment
  • Weight targets definition
  • Weight status reports preparation (including weight tracking)
  • Etc.
• Participate in the development, coding and implementation of Mass Properties tools.
• Supervise engineering students' internships.
