Job summary

Bombardier in Saint-Laurent, QC is seeking a Professional Engineer - Materials & Processes to join the M&P Engineering team for Global Completions.

You will develop test plans, analyze results, review specifications and drawings, and drive process optimization and cost-reduction initiatives.

The role requires a bachelor in Materials, Mechanical or Chemical engineering, 3+ years aerospace experience, knowledge of interior materials, and fluency in English and French.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor degree in Materials, Mechanical, or Chemical engineering.
• Minimum of 3 years in M&P in aerospace/military production.
• Knowledge of aircraft interior materials and processes.
• Familiar with CMH-17, MIL specs, FAR/ISO/SAE standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform material qualifications and resolve part non-conformity issues in M&P Engineering.
• Develop test plans, analyze results, and review test reports.
• Write and review Materials & Processes specifications for Completions.
• Review engineering drawings and change documentation.
• Support innovation projects and regulatory changes impacting Completions.
• Collaborate across teams and manage multiple issues with status updates.
• Participate in process optimization and cost reduction initiatives.
• Provide technical expertise in metallics, surface treatments, polymers, coatings, upholstery, leather, woodworking and interior flammability.

What are your contributions to the team?

• Perform a diversified range of engineering tasks such as material qualifications, solving part non-conformity issues, production line problems and managing supplier material changes as part of the Materials and Processes (M&P) Engineering team for Global Completions
• Develop test plans, work with internal and external laboratories, analyze results and review test reports
• Write & review Materials & Processes Specifications for Completions and associated Qualified Product Library
• Review and approve engineering drawings and change documentation
• Support innovation projects and design activities, investigate new environmental regulations impacting Completions
• Handle multiple issues, be involved in technical decisions and provide regular status updates
• Participate in process optimization, continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives
• Provide technical expertise in the domains of metallics, surface treatments, polymers, coatings, protective finishes, upholstery, leather, woodworking and interior flammability

How to thrive in this role?

• You have a bachelor degree in Materials, Mechanical or Chemical engineering from an accredited university
• You have a minimum of three (3) years of experience working as M&P in an aerospace/military production environment.
• You have knowledge on aircraft interior materials and processes such as surface treatments, coatings, protective finishes, leather, upholstery, woodworking, etc.
• You are knowledgeable about typical military and/or aerospace industry standards such as CMH-17, MIL specs, Federal regulations, ASTM, ISO and SAE specifications
• You have knowledge about flammability requirements according to FAR 25 regulations
• You are proficient in engineering design principles and reviewing drawings
• You have excellent organizational and project planning skills
• You are adept at solving engineering problems in a high-pressure environment and can deal with issues quickly and independently
• You have excellent communication skills in English and French (written and oral)
• You must be able to work in a team environment and interact constantly with Senior Professionals and Technicians from other value stream functions (Methods, Quality, Logistics etc.)
• You have worked with CATIA V5 and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
