Job summary

Bombardier Transportation GmbH is seeking a Senior Engineer specialized in Aerodynamics, focusing on in-flight icing and CFD, based in Montreal. The role demands leadership in icing simulations, high-fidelity CFD workflows, and collaboration across Flight Sciences and Certification teams.

You will contribute to certification efforts, develop advanced meshing and HPC methods, and support regulatory interactions.

Qualifications

• Master’s or Ph.D. in Engineering with CFD / in-flight icing specialization.
• 5–10+ years of aerodynamic CFD and icing simulations with proven impact.
• Strong fundamentals in numerical methods for PDEs (spatial discretization, time integration).
• Experience with mesh generation tools (Pointwise) and CAD environments (NX, Catia).
• Knowledge of UNIX/Linux and HPC best practices.
• Fluent in English and French.
• Eligibility to work on defense projects (CGD, ITAR).
• Willingness to travel for short-term assignments.

Responsibilities

• Perform icing numerical simulations on complex aerodynamic configurations.
• Prepare, execute, and analyze wind tunnel tests including CFD and certification.
• Develop advanced mesh generation, deformation, and adaptation strategies for icing simulations.
• Analyze aerodynamic performance under icing to support design and certification.
• Develop CFD workflows for icing using HPC.
• Act as technical reference for Flight Sciences, Loads & Dynamics, Thermodynamics, Systems, and Certification teams.
• Support in-flight icing certification activities and regulatory authority interactions.

What are your contributions to the team?

• Perform icingnumericalsimulations on complex aerodynamic configurations.
• Prepare, execute, and analyze high-lift and icing wind tunnel test campaigns, includingCFD andcertification.
• Architect and develop advanced mesh generation, deformation, and adaptation strategies foricing simulations.
• Analyze aerodynamic performance under icing conditions to support downstream design and system‑level assessments, including ice‑protection, stability and control degradation, and overallaircraftperformance impact.
• Develop and integrate advanced CFD workflows for icing,leveragingHigh Performance Computing (HPC).
• Act as a technical reference in icing aerodynamics for Flight Sciences, Loads & Dynamics, Thermodynamics, Systems, and Certification teams.
• Support in-flight icing certification activities and regulatory authority interactions.

How to thrive in this role?

• Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Engineering with specialization in CFD and/or in-flight icing.
• Deep hands-on experience (typically 5–10+ years) in aerodynamic CFD and icing simulations withdemonstratedcertification or design impact.
• Strong fundamentals in numerical methods for PDEs, including spatial discretization, time integration, and solver technologies.
• Experience with mesh generation tools (Pointwise) and CAD environments(NX, Catia).
• Knowledge of UNIX/Linux environments and HPC best practices.
• Programming experience in C/C++ and Python.
• Fluent in English and French.
• Eligibility to work ondefenseprojects(CGD, ITAR).
• Willingness to travel for short-term assignments.
• Relevant experience in the certification process, including interaction with regulatory authorities
