Job summary

Rodrigue Métal is seeking a Production Technician to support the plant manager in planning and preparing manufacturing projects. This hybrid role balances office and workshop tasks and contributes to the execution of client mandates and smooth production.

Responsibilities include reading technical plans, creating shop drawings in AutoCAD 2D, handling work orders, and ensuring document control. Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D, imperial measurements, and strong English/French communication are required.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D (required).
• Strong plan-reading and attention to detail.
• French and English communication required for coordinating with clients.
• Degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent training.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in steel manufacturing or processing.

Job Description

Supporting the plant manager, the Production Technician actively participates in the planning and preparation of manufacturing projects. This hybrid role, balancing office and workshop tasks, allows for direct contribution to the execution of client mandates and the smooth running of production.

Key Responsibilities:

• Communicate via email with clients and suppliers (in English as needed).
• Ensure sorting and document management of drawings and specifications.

Desired Profile

• Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D (required).
• Good knowledge of the imperial system.
• Proficiency in the MS Office suite, particularly Excel.
• Degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent training.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in steel manufacturing or processing.
• Excellent plan reading skills and attention to detail.
• Organization, resourcefulness, and team spirit.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Have a strong command of French and an intermediate level of English (spoken and written); knowledge of English is required, as the position holder must regularly communicate with clients located outside Quebec, notably in Ontario, New Brunswick, and the United States.
