PRODUCTION SUPPORT ANALYST

We are looking for someone to be a part of a dynamic team for one of our clients as a Production Support Analyst. An exciting opportunity to join a Commodity Trading Front Office support team working with the Trading Floors across North America, supporting both front office users and our progressive Commodities programme.

This role is within the Commodities Production Services group based in Calgary, reporting to the Regional Head.

The group is responsible for:

• Supporting IT solutions for various business lines globally including Financial and Physical Commodity products and associated Derivatives
• Offering technical expertise and support for the systems used
• Managing and resolving incidents and outages
• Managing requests for changes, system releases, and capacity planning
• Disaster recovery, planning, and execution

What will you do?

• Be responsible for support of all applications used in the Commodity trading areas including position management and Oil, Gas, Metals, Derivatives trading systems, electronic trading platform application support, rate aggregation, pricing, distribution, low latency position keeping, and auto-hedging systems.
• Take a proactive approach to managing the production plant, including ownership of monitoring, the knowledge base, and documenting new procedures and application onboarding runbooks.
• Assist as point of contact between IT and business management for organizing events such as upgrades and scheduled downtime.
• Provide miscellaneous support of existing and new systems to complement the helpdesk service already in place.
• Be part of a dynamic and vibrant global business support team that covers local trading hours from 7am to 6pm and also provides occasional out of hours support during local holidays and weekends (shared with global team per business requirements).

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

• Solid experience in IT to include minimum 1 year of experience in the industry.
• Previous experience in a front office support role engaging directly with Sales and Trading desks is desirable.
• Experience in Solaris Unix / Linux / Windows environments, basic scripting, Sybase/SQL.

Nice to Have

• Demonstrated understanding of ITIL processes.
• Experience of implementing trading systems both 3rd party and in-house developed would be advantageous.
• Experience or knowledge of any of the following systems would be of benefit – Murex, ITRS/Geneos, D3, Control-M, KDB/Q, Fix Messaging.
• Exposure to trading systems – understanding and troubleshooting of pricing issues, integration of clients, ECN connectivity logic and flow where possible.
• Experience of integration and support of deal feeds into trading systems would be beneficial.
• Project management experience a plus.
