Job summary

Agropur Cooperative in Ontario seeks an experienced production leader to coordinate daily operations from material receipt to shipping, ensuring schedules, quality, and cost targets are met.

The role involves planning labour, supervising teams, enforcing GMP and safety programs, and driving continuous improvement across manufacturing processes. Collaboration with cross-functional teams and adherence to labor relations are key.

Qualifications

• Familiar with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
• Experience with safety programs such as lockout/tagout, machine safety, confined spaces, WHMIS.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily production activities from raw material reception through processing, packaging, aging (if applicable), and shipping, ensuring schedules and customer requirements are met.
• Deliver production plans in terms of volume, quality, and cost by coordinating manufacturing processes and workforce activities.
• Ensure proper utilization and management of raw materials, ingredients, and cleaning products.
• Plan and manage labour requirements to meet operational needs.
• Supervise, coach, and develop production teams, promoting engagement and accountability.
• Ensure compliance with collective agreements and support positive labour relations.
• Maintain and enforce health and safety standards, including participation in major safety programs (lockout/tagout, machine safety, confined spaces, WHMIS).
• Ensure compliance with quality, food safety, and sanitation requirements (SQF, HACCP, GMP).
• Oversee sanitation activities and ensure proper maintenance of equipment cleanliness.
• Participate in environmental program compliance and sustainable practices.
• Monitor and communicate KPIs and drive performance improvement.
• Initiate and lead continuous improvement initiatives aimed at optimizing processes and reducing waste.
• Participate in plant committees and contribute to strategic objectives.
• Foster a culture of operational performance and continuous improvement aligned with organizational values.

• Responsible for employee relations including work direction of employees, hiring, training, performance reviews, administering policies and procedures, disciplinary action, and compensation recommendations.

• Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, procedures and guidelines.
• Understand and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices.
• Safety Protocol Stop any observed unsafe acts and obey facility safety rules and procedures.
• Correct or report any observed safety hazards.
• Support safety policies and programs.
