Job summary

Mattr is seeking a Production Supervisor in Vaughan, Ontario to lead production operations—from planning through delivery—while guiding a team of hourly employees. You will coordinate with stakeholders, drive safety and quality, and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and throughput.

The role emphasizes hands-on leadership in an electronic assembly manufacturing environment, with a focus on meeting delivery commitments and maintaining an incident-free workplace.

Qualifications

  • Diploma, associate degree or post-secondary in Manufacturing, Operations, Engineering, Technology, or related field. University degree is an asset.
  • Min 3 years of experience in manufacturing, production, process, operations, or production engineering environments.
  • Min 2 years of hands-on manufacturing experience with regular shop floor presence and direct interaction with operators and production teams.
  • Experience leading production operations, manufacturing teams, or operational processes in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of production planning, scheduling, capacity management, labour utilization, materials management, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience supervising hourly employees and driving accountability, engagement, and performance.
  • Working knowledge of quality management systems such as ISO 9001, AS9100D, or CSA N299 standards.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Six Sigma, JIT, Kanban, TQM, ERP systems, and other operational excellence tools.
  • Knowledge of IPC standards, NASA manufacturing requirements, and electronic assembly environments is considered a strong asset.
  • Strong problem-solving, leadership, communication, coaching, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to balance safety, quality, cost, delivery, and customer expectations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Comfortable working in a hands-on production environment and leading by example.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all production operations and associated activities, including production planning, project management, testing, logistics, materials management, maintenance, HSE implementation, and third-party operations.
  • Review incoming customer orders and develop production schedules that support on-time delivery commitments.
  • Conduct daily production meetings, establish priorities, assign work, and monitor team performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing waste, improving cycle times, increasing labour utilization, and enhancing operational efficiency.
  • Support the introduction of new products, processes, equipment, and manufacturing capabilities.
  • Ensure tooling, equipment, materials, and resources are available to meet production requirements.
  • Develop capacity plans and optimize labour scheduling, including overtime planning when required.
  • Maintain compliance with quality standards, operational procedures, and manufacturing documentation requirements.
  • Supervise and support production activities including assembly, soldering, testing, cable preparation, pressure testing, and related manufacturing processes.
  • Provide hands-on support in production when required.
  • Apply structured problem-solving techniques to resolve manufacturing, quality, delivery, and operational challenges.
  • Support inventory accuracy, material availability, and ERP inventory management activities.
  • Oversee receiving activities and coordinate shipping requirements to ensure products are packaged and delivered according to customer specifications.
  • Serve as a technical point of contact for customer project teams regarding qualification activities, product status updates, and open orders.
  • Review RFQs and provide production input related to labour estimates, lead times, and manufacturing feasibility.
  • Review purchase orders, quotations, and proposals to ensure compliance with production and quality requirements.
  • Approve timesheets and support payroll processing activities.
  • Develop, train, certify, and coach production team members while supporting ongoing certification and qualification requirements.
  • Conduct performance management activities including employee coaching, development discussions, and performance evaluations.
  • Support Health, Safety, and Environmental programs, maintain legislative compliance, and actively participate in safety initiatives.
  • Maintain 5S standards, support quality investigations, and reinforce adherence to manufacturing and quality procedures.
  • Maintain production documentation, manufacturing records, planning information, and reporting requirements.
  • Contribute to operational planning, forecasting, and capital improvement initiatives.

Summary

As the Production Supervisor, you will play a critical leadership role in ensuring the successful execution of customer orders from intake through delivery. The Salary Range for this position is $75,000 to $85,000 CAD. The provided range represents the anticipated base salary and target incentive for this position. The final total compensation will be determined based on the successful candidate’s skills, experience, qualifications, and internal equity considerations.
