Job summary

MMIST Inc. in Ottawa, ON is seeking a Production Manager to lead the electromechanical production team across multiple programs. You will establish production priorities, oversee assembly activities, and work closely with Planning, Engineering and Quality to meet schedules and quality targets.

The role focuses on driving continuous improvement, optimizing resources, and maintaining a strong safety culture while delivering on customer and regulatory requirements.

What will you be doing?

• Direct day-to-day electromechanical manufacturing and assembly activities across multiple programs and product lines.
• Establish production priorities and facilitate daily operational meetings to keep teams aligned.
• Track manufacturing performance through meaningful KPIs and take action when results fall outside expectations.
• Identify production constraints, resource gaps, and emerging schedule risks, then develop and implement mitigation plans.
• Optimize the use of people, equipment, tooling, materials, and manufacturing capacity.
• Maintain visibility of work-in-progress, backlog, staffing requirements, and overall production capacity.
• Work closely with Planning, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Program Management to develop achievable schedules and respond to changing requirements.
• Champion improvements to manufacturing processes, productivity, workflow, and operational efficiency.
• Promote a strong safety culture and reinforce consistent adherence to established manufacturing practices and procedures.
• Partner with Quality to address non-conformances, determine root causes, and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
• Apply structured problem-solving techniques to resolve recurring production and quality issues.
• Maintain a strong focus on customer, regulatory, and internal quality expectations throughout the manufacturing process.
• Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and mentorship to the Production team.
• Set clear expectations, provide ongoing feedback, and participate in employee performance reviews.
• Identify skills gaps and training requirements and support the development of employees at all levels.
• Confirm that employees have the training, qualifications, certifications, and competencies necessary for their assigned responsibilities.
• Develop employee development and succession strategies that support the organization's future growth.

What do we need from you?

• Previous experience supervising or managing teams involved in complex manufacturing, electromechanical assembly, electrical assembly, fabrication, or related production environments.
• A solid technical understanding of electromechanical systems, components, manufacturing processes, and assembly methods.
• Strong understanding of production planning, purchasing, and supply chain operations.
• Experience managing operational performance and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Familiarity with manufacturing quality systems, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
• Experience working with ERP/MRP systems and manufacturing KPIs.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making capability.
