Summary/Job Scope:

Function as part of the leadership team to supervise and coordinate activities of workers engaged in operation of a cement production facility.

Key Job Responsibilities:
  1. Achieves production, quality, environmental, safety, and efficiency goals. Acts as liaison with other departments when other staff is not present.
  2. Confers with production personnel to resolve problems affecting production schedules; may be asked to prepare work schedules for the Production Department; assign replacements for employees' vacations.
  3. Assign duties and examine work for conformance to policies and procedures including but not limited to the production rounds and inspections.
  4. Study and standardize procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates; maintain harmony among workers.
  5. Troubleshoot process and equipment problems to improve operation and material flow.
  6. Identify and list order of importance for clean-up efforts and develop solutions for perpetual clean-up issues.
  7. Report any safety or environmental issues; solve the problems or address them by work order.
  8. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations; resolve equipment problems; handle teamwork with crew.
  9. Make operational decisions during shift work hours; discern when to involve management; assess situations for safety; understand work assignments.
Qualifications:
  1. One-year certificate from college or technical school and 3 months of related experience and/or training; or 4-6 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education.
  2. Strong organizational and time management skills.
  3. Diplomacy when interacting with both union and non-union groups.
  4. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  5. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and maintenance instructions.
  6. Ability to understand and carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
  7. Experience in process improvements and management.
  8. Problem solving and decision-making skills.
  9. Experience with Microsoft Office and general computer skills.
