Job Description

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Plant Superintendent, the successful candidate will be responsible for supervising and running the Production line. This includes supervising Production Operators operating machinery, ensuring that raw materials are fed properly through the manufacturing process, resolving line stoppages, clearing equipment jams, verifying finished products against quality specifications, and ensuring that products are properly prepared for shipment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Recognize IKO values and exemplify them in your daily work.
  • Lead a positive change effort to improve performance by motivating, recognizing and inspiring others to be effective and efficient in their activities.
  • Resolve any conflict immediately and assure that behavior is in line with IKO values; ask for help if needed.
  • Increase employee engagement and improve the labor relations climate through participation in continuous improvement (get suggestions, report problems, participate in team problem-solving sessions).
  • Evaluate employee performance monthly with coaching and support to achieve results.
  • Champion hazard identification, evaluation, and control through the behavior-based safety and risk assessment programs.
  • Lead daily safety share, encourage and recognize all safety behavior.
  • Job training with STD work description, SOP, and WI.
  • Safety training, STOP, FLRA, and all other safety programs.
  • Ensure proper documentation and complete reports (compliance, checklists, production reports, spreadsheets, metrics, incident investigations, etc.).
  • Continually improve the operational efficiency of the plant by submitting ideas and solutions.
  • Ensure a rigorous follow-up of all 5S.
  • Report to the people concerned (manager, superintendent colleague, etc.) any production or safety situations or concerns.
  • Maintain constructive and respectful relationships with all staff by communicating effectively with all departments.
  • For all breakdowns or needed repairs, make an efficient service request to the maintenance department as soon as possible.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary degree/diploma, preferably in industrial technology or engineering, business administration, or management.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience within a fast-paced manufacturing environment, 3 of which must be in a supervisory role.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills with hands-on problem-solving skills in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and leadership ability in order to successfully manage a diverse group of employees.
  • Excellent communication (written, verbal, and presentation) and analytical skills.
  • Proven track record of operational enhancement and improvements through employee engagement, demonstrated team-building talent.
  • Excellent time management, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Knowledge of Workday is an asset.

Hours and Expectations:

  • Full-time position, 12-hour shifts working on a modified Dupont schedule.
  • Open availability, ability to work shifts, weekends, and overtime work required.
  • Subject to 24-hour on-call duties.

Environment:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions.
  • The noise level in the work environment may be loud.
