Nucor Rebar Fabrication is seeking a capable operations leader to oversee administration and shop production. The role emphasizes a safety-first culture, compliance with safety standards, and driving efficient production to meet quality and delivery targets.

You will supervise shop personnel, manage scheduling and overtime, coordinate inventory and parts procurement, and ensure upkeep of equipment and facilities. Strong leadership and communication are essential.

Competenze

• Five to eight years in reinforcing steel fabrication or related field.
• At least three years' supervisory experience.
• Knowledge of OH&S Industrial Safety Standards.

PURPOSE

Oversees and directs the activities of administration and shop production in a safe and efficient manner for the desired quality and quantity of work under the direction of the Branch Manager.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Demonstrate conduct consistent with Nucor Rebar Fabrication’s vision and values.
2. Lead and promote Nucor Rebar Fabrication's Vision and Values by championing a "Safety First" culture, ensuring compliance with applicable safety rules, regulations, procedures, and guidelines to support the company's goal of zero injuries, demonstrating a strong customer focus, treating others with respect, inspiring trust, and fostering open and honest communication.
3. Ensure effective implementation of all other Nucor Rebar Fabrication policies and directives relevant to shop and detailing operations.
4. Direct supervisors/foremen with respect to safety, production volume, cost, quality, and meeting production schedules and delivery dates.
5. Manage workforce levels of all shop-related personnel, oversee the scheduling of their work hours, including managing overtime hours, so that customer needs are met, and costs are managed effectively.
6. Oversee the hiring, training, motivation, evaluation and work of all shop and Nucor Rebar administration personnel so that all employees perform effectively and efficiently. Supervise shop supervisors.
7. Coordinate plant inventory at levels established by the Branch Manager and order reinforcing steel as needed so that customer needs can be met within established inventory goals.
8. Assure that machinery, equipment, and facilities are properly maintained for efficient production. Oversee proper authorization and purchase of needed replacement parts and recommend management any capital expenditures so that the shop can operate with the most up-to-date and efficient plant and equipment possible.
9. Oversee preventative maintenance program.
10. Provide Branch Manager with appropriate operating data so that accurate costs can be maintained, and efficiency can be improved.
11. Maintain good employee relations and adherence to company policy; take proper and judicious disciplinary measures when required. Implement, in coordination with Branch Manager, all Nucor Rebar Fabrication policy and practices to all shop personnel so that all teammates know what is expected of them and, in turn, what they can expect from their employer.
12. Assure efficient and economical utilization of materials, improvement of methods, and elimination of wasteful practices within the branch.
13. Establish accountabilities and goals used for performance evaluation and complete personal development plans for supervisor direct reports and guide foreman to do same.
14. Ensure that appropriate corporate controls and policies are implemented and adhered to. (For example support Nucor Rebar Fabrication bold statements, redline initiatives and safety expectations.
15. Act as “landlord” for location so that adequate work environment and necessary support services are provided.
16. Learn MIS and Navision management systems.
17. Develop an understanding of project specifications and contractual requirements as they relate to shop production and operational execution.
18. Perform other duties as required by the Branch Manager

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• Five to eight years of reinforcing steel fabrication or field related experience, with at least three years' experience as a supervisor.
• Demonstrated knowledge of OH & S Industrial Safety Standards
• Knowledge of related business, labour relations and industrial regulations and standards
• Experience implementing continuous improvement and/or related project management experience in implementing improvements
• Ability to work as a team leader/member on projects with an aptitude for problem solving
• Organized and detail oriented
• Able to manage time effectively and prioritize responsibilities
• Effective verbal and communication skills
