Job summary

IKO Industries Ltd. in Brampton, Ontario, invites applications for a Production Supervisor role. You will lead shift personnel, uphold safety and quality, and drive production improvements in a fast-paced setting.

A strong focus on coaching, scheduling, and team development is required. The position demands a post‑secondary degree and at least five years in manufacturing, including three in supervision, with excellent communication and problem‑solving abilities. Union experience is an asset.

Qualifications

  • Post‑secondary degree/diploma in industrial technology/engineering or management.
  • Minimum 5 years in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, 3 in supervision.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving in manufacturing settings.
  • Excellent communication and leadership for diverse teams.
  • Unionized environment experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Lead on-going development, performance, and day-to-day supervision of shift personnel.
  • Plan and manage scheduling for the production team.
  • Provide manufacturing leadership in a unionized environment, including discipline when necessary.
  • Improve processes using lean tools and maintain department documentation.
  • Identify training needs and coach employees for growth.
  • Conduct training, cross-training, and rotation for product/process development.
  • Ensure training on safety, production, and quality procedures.
  • Adhere to safety regulations and perform safety inspections.
  • Lead weekly crew meetings to discuss safety, quality, and production changes.
  • Evaluate performance and progress toward skill improvements.
  • Develop measures to improve production methods and equipment performance.
  • Operate within SOPs and quality procedures.
  • Identify and resolve production issues and assist with quality problems.
  • Investigate near-misses, accidents, hazards; maintain a safe environment.

Job Responsibilities
  • Manage the on-going development, performance, and day-to-day supervision of assigned shift personnel in order to maintain quality standards and increase production levels
  • Plan and manage scheduling for production team
  • Provide manufacturing leadership in a unionized environment, including discipline and performance management of employees as necessary
  • Improve existing processes through the application of lean tools and techniques and the upkeep all of all department documentation
  • Identify training and development needs and personal growth opportunities for employees, coaching and motivating individuals to achieve results
  • Conduct training, cross training and rotation of employees for product, process and employee development
  • Ensure employees are trained on procedures relating to safety, production, and quality
  • Ensure adherence to company and OSHA safety regulations, conduct safety work inspections as required
  • Conducts weekly crew meetings for communication of safety, quality and production changes and goals
  • Evaluates team members’ performance and progress toward individual skill improvements
  • Develop, recommend, and implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product
  • Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Quality procedures
  • Identify and resolve production issues in an efficient manner, assist in the resolution of quality production problems
  • Investigate and prepare reports on safety near-misses, accidents and hazards identification
  • Assures that a clean and safe working environment is maintained at all times
  • Work closely with other production supervisors to ensure consistency
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Post‑secondary degree/diploma, preferably in industrial technology or engineering, business administration, or management
  • Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience within a fast‑paced Manufacturing environment, 3 of which must be in a supervisory role; Experience specifically in a high‑speed, continuous process manufacturing environment is an asset
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills with hands‑on problem‑solving skills in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and leadership ability in order to successfully manage a diverse group of employees
  • Excellent communication (written, verbal, and presentation) and analytical skills
  • Proven track record of operational enhancement and improvements through employee engagement, demonstrated team building talent
  • Excellent time management, planning, and organizational skillsProficient in MS Office
  • Experience in a unionized manufacturing environment an asset
