Job summary

IKO Industries Ltd. is seeking a production line operator in Barrie, Ontario. The role involves running the production line, feeding materials, resolving stoppages, and ensuring quality before shipment.

The position requires rotating 12-hour day/night shifts, strong safety discipline, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. You will operate machinery, inspect products for quality, and document production data. Prior heavy-industrial experience and forklift operation are assets.

Responsibilities

  • Operate production line and machinery.
  • Ensure raw materials are fed properly through the process.
  • Inspect products against quality specifications and perform checks.
  • Complete safety pre-start checklists.
  • Operate counterbalance forklift and handle lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Record production numbers and downtime in the system.
  • Maintain housekeeping and adhere to SOPs.

Job Description

Job Summary: Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for running the production line. This includes operating machinery, ensuring that raw materials are fed properly through the manufacturing process, resolving line stoppages, clearing equipment jams, verifying finished products against quality specifications, and ensuring that products are properly prepared for shipment.

Job Responsibilities
  • Must be flexible to work rotating 12-hour day and night shifts
  • Adhere to safety policies, programs, procedures
  • Complete health & safety pre-start checklists
  • Inspect raw material and finish products per quality specifications
  • Operate counterbalance, propane-powered forklift
  • Ensure product being produced meets established quality specifications
  • Conduct quality checks at regular intervals
  • Operate manufacturing equipment in accordance with established operating procedures
  • Document production numbers, items contributing to down-time into system
  • Ability to safely perform heavy lifting up to 50 pounds on a routine basis
  • General housekeeping duties
  • Additional duties as assigned by Supervisory staff
Qualifications
  • High Secondary School diploma
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in heavy-industrial manufacturing or construction industry or similar industry preferred
  • 3 years of flexographic printing and/ or blown film multilayer extrusion experience is considered an asset
  • Basic knowledge of water based print and/ or blown film extrusion raw materials
  • Minimum 1 year of proven forklift operating experience preferred
  • Comfortable with standing for extended periods of time
  • Manual dexterity
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to follow direction and specific instructions
  • Good communication skills; Fluent in English - Reading, Writing and Speaking
  • Comfortable with working in a dusty environment
  • Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds on a routine basis
  • Must be able to walk and/or stand 90% of the shift
  • Must be able to work at heights and in confined spaces
