Job summary

WITRON Service Canada Corporation, part of the WITRON Group, seeks a Production Superintendent to lead the production team and oversee a shift in our automated facility. You will drive operational excellence, monitor KPIs, and provide customer support to ensure on-time, quality output.

Reporting to the Production Manager, you will develop action plans, coach staff, manage downtime, and uphold safety standards while coordinating with maintenance and logistics to optimize performance across all

Qualifications

  • University Degree in Engineering, Business Admin or equivalent related field.
  • Five years experience in a leadership role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to implement systems and to lead by example.
  • Familiarity with quality principles, continuous improvement methodologies, basic logistics and supply chain.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Production Manager to plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the operations for all production shifts in the automated facility.
  • Generate, analyze, and provide feedback relating to a variety of production and KPI reports.
  • Provide KPI statistics and trend analysis for measurable performance.
  • Review operating procedures with the Production Manager to maintain customer service levels.
  • Drive departmental and team operational excellence through regular process reviews and real-time feedback.
  • Maintain open communication with the customer on all aspects of operations.
  • Respond to operational needs of all shifts and assist in the absence of the Production Manager.
  • Provide leadership and development to Production team; train staff on equipment and techniques.
  • Manage shift productivity, output and operational costs; develop continuous improvement actions.
  • Organize and lead the Production team per policies and regulations.
  • Assist in hiring, mentoring, and training employees on new equipment or techniques.
  • Promote open communication, coaching, and adherence to company values.
  • Be on call to minimize downtime and handle outages or repairs.
  • Contribute to prioritize work orders, downtime windows, and lead times.
  • Ensure safety regulations and a clean, safe working environment is maintained.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Production Superintendent is responsible for ensuring organizational effectiveness by providing leadership to the Production team and overseeing a shift. This role also provides customer support.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Production Manager to plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the operations for all production shifts in the automated facility
  • Generate, analyze, and provide feedback relating to a variety of production and key performance indicator reports, ensuring superior, data-driven operational output
  • Provide key performance indicator statistics and trend analysis, ensuring performance is measurable and traceable
  • Work with the Production Manager to review operating procedures to achieve and maintain customer service levels
  • Together with leadership team, drive departmental and team operational excellence through regular process reviews and real- time feedback based on measurable deliverables
  • Maintain open, effective, and responsive communication with the customer on all aspects of operations
  • Respond to any operational needs of all shifts, and in the absence of the Production Manager assist where required
  • Provide leadership and support, including training and development to Production team
  • Responsible for shift productivity, output, and operational costs
  • Develop action plans as required to ensure continuous improvement
  • Organize, co-ordinate and lead the Production team in accordance with company policies, laws and regulations
  • Assist the Production Manager to hire, lead and train employees in the use of new equipment or production techniques
  • Provide leadership promoting open communication between teams, coaching on process and procedural compliance, leading training and development initiatives, and promoting the company’s values
  • Be on call and respond efficiently to all conditions, minimizing machinery downtime and promoting urgency when dealing with situations involving system outages or system repairs
  • Action immediate resolutions to irregular operations through review of process deviations and implementation of innovative and effective solutions
  • Actively participate with operation and maintenance to finalize priority of work orders, optimum downtime windows, and necessary lead times
  • Compliance with all safety regulations of assigned tasks, and ensure a clean and safe working environment with active participation in the health and safety program
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • University Degree in Engineering, Business Admin or equivalent related field
  • Five years experience in a leadership role in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to implement systems and to lead by example
  • Familiarity with quality principles, continuous improvement methodologies, basic logistics and supply chain principles
  • Analytical nature and able to problem solve
  • Able to prioritize multiple tasks and work load
  • Practical attitude and ability to learn new skills and tasks
  • Excellent Communication Skills in English; French an asset
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
  • Previous experience in warehouse, supply chain, manufacturing, grocery, or retail industries
  • Basic understanding of automated material handling systems
Travel and Shifts
  • This role may require occasional domestic and/or international travel in order to undergoing relevant training, to attend internal and/or customer meetings, and/or to support other facilities as needed.
  • Flexibility to work any shift as required by operational needs
  • Ability to be on-call as needed to ensure operational integrity
