Job summary

Amrize is seeking a Production Shift Supervisor for the St-Constant cement plant to lead a production team and meet safety, environmental, quality, and output targets.

You will oversee shift operations, ensure equipment reliability, and coordinate with other departments to achieve budgeted requirements and customer needs.

Qualifications

  • Education: DEP, DEC or Bachelor's degree. Field of study: Production automation, operations management, or mechanical.
  • Five (5) years of production supervisory experience in a heavy industry.
  • SAP, Microsoft Office, and Google suite.
  • Travel: 10%.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safe and effective operation of the production shift employees while protecting the plant’s equipment and maximizing utilization and reliability.
  • Produce forecasted quantities and quality of raw mix, clinker and cement while minimizing non‑compliance.
  • Follow environmental guidelines and manage workforce during maintenance and turnarounds.
  • Ensure control parameters of lab, control room, and field are met.
  • Coordinate decision making and problem solving with the team on mechanical, electrical, process, quality, productivity, or manpower issues.
  • Represent the production department when coordinating with other departments and provide leadership to achieve objectives.
  • Report on shift activities, observations, safety meetings, and production levels; complete weekly payroll.
  • Provide operational coverage for the Production Manager and Production Coordinator.
  • Demonstrate commitment to health, safety, and environmental policies.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The primary objective is to lead and coordinate the Production Team in production of clinker and cement in accordance with the safety, environmental, quality and quantity objective for the St-Constant plant to meet budgeted requirements and customer needs.

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH
  • Ensure the safe and effective operation of the production shift employees while protecting the plant’s equipment and maximizing its utilization and reliability.
  • Produce the forecasted quantities and quality of raw mix, clinker and cement while minimizing non-compliance.
  • Ensure that all environmental guidelines are followed and complied with, and manage the workforce during equipment maintenance and yearly turnarounds.
  • Make sure that all control parameters of the lab, the control room, and the field are met.
  • Coordinate and facilitate key decision making and problem solving with the team when dealing with mechanical, electrical, process, quality, productivity, or manpower related problems.
  • Represent the production department when coordinating and organizing the team's work with other departments, and provide leadership to achieve objectives.
  • Report on the team’s shift activities, observations, safety meetings, and production levels, and complete the weekly payroll for the production teams.
  • Provide operational coverage for the Production Manager and Production Coordinator as required.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviours.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
  • Education: DEP, DEC or Bachelor's degree. Field of study preferred: Production automation, operations management, or mechanical.
  • Required Work Experience: Five (5) years of production supervisory experience in a heavy industry.
  • Required Technical Skills: SAP, Microsoft Office, and Google suite.
  • Travel Requirements: 10%
Additional Requirements:
  • Excellent Knowledge of the cement technology and manufacturing process.
  • Excellent leadership ability and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to interact with plant and regional personnel.
  • Ability to work on many tasks at the same time while keeping excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong communicator (both oral & written). Highly motivated with ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated commitment to achieving organizational and personal goals.
  • Proven ability to work well in a team environment (co-workers, suppliers, etc.).
  • Well organized and systematic.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
