Job summary

Sterling Industries is seeking a Production Scheduler II in Vaughan, Canada to develop and maintain production schedules and coordinate plant resources to meet customer demand. The role requires ERP/MRP experience and strong communication across departments to keep production on plan.

The incumbent will generate work orders, monitor performance, and coordinate shipments with subcontractors, aiming for 100% on-time delivery and efficient asset use. APICS certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• APICS certification or equivalent and associated education requirements.
• 2 to 5 years of experience with ERP/MRP scheduling systems.
• Solid knowledge of capacity planning and production scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Developing and maintaining weekly production schedules from sales orders and forecasts.
• Attending daily production meetings to ensure adherence to the schedule, production efficiency, and product quality.
• Generating, reviewing, and releasing work orders to support production requirements, and filing completed and quality-approved work orders in the appropriate location in a timely manner.
• Analyzing capacity loading, production efficiencies, and scheduling performance.
• Coordinating schedule adjustments due to material shortages, labor constraints, or changes in customer demand.
• Generating and maintaining efficiency and asset utilization reports.
• Coordinating shipments and subcontractor activities to ensure on-time delivery.
• Supporting ERP/MRP system processes and identifying improvement opportunities.
• Communicating scheduling priorities and recovery plans across departments.
• Providing coaching and direction to less experienced schedulers as needed.
• Working closely with teams to ensure production is on plan and meets customer demand.
• Communicating any issues or discrepancies to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
• Processing daily shipments, including BOLs, commercial invoices, and carrier waybills, and communicating with customers to ensure timely shipment of products.
• Printing labels and creating and sending ASNs for daily shipments.
• Reducing operating costs within areas of responsibility.
• Working with subcontractors to ensure parts are shipped and returned on time; and
• Scheduling shipments, including freight pick-ups and deliveries to outside contractors, and following up as needed.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

The Production Scheduler works closely with the Operations and Materials teams to ensure work orders are completed on time, labor hours are accurately recorded, and customer orders achieve 100% on-time delivery.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• APICS certification or equivalent and associated education requirements.
• 2 to 5 years of experience utilizing an ERP/MRP scheduling system (SAGE 500 preferred).
• Solid working knowledge of capacity planning and production scheduling.
• Accurate and high-level attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task, analyze and problem solve.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Knowledge of continuous improvement.
