Job summary

Comar in Vineland, NJ is seeking a Production Operator to operate and tend packaging machinery, stage materials, and inspect products to ensure quality and GMP compliance. You will monitor equipment, clear alarms, and report issues while maintaining a clean, safe work area in a fast-paced facility.

Preferred candidates have 1–3 years of production experience, a high school or Vo-Tech diploma, and familiarity with ISO 9001/13485; DELMIAWorks IQMS experience is a plus.

Qualifications

  • High School or Vo-Tech graduate required.
  • 1–3 years experience as a production operator preferred.
  • ISO 9001 and/or ISO13485 experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of DELMIAWorks (IQMS) is a plus.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 10 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and tend packaging machines and downstream equipment.
  • Start machines, monitor operation, stop and report malfunctions.
  • Clear alarms and handle jams and sensors.
  • Stage materials and ensure quality of finished products.
  • Perform basic quality inspections and maintain GMP compliance.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow safety guidelines.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Quality & Safety are Top Comar Priorities

  • Operates and tends machines that perform one or more packaging functions, both assembly and downstream packaging automation equipment.
  • Starts machines and observes operation to detect malfunctions of machines. Stops machines and reports malfunction to process technician or supervisor.
  • Clear alarms, runner jam, sensors, leak detectors.
  • Stages packaging material or WIP components; ensures quality of finished product, stamps and packs on assembly and downstream packaging automation equipment.
  • Performance visual and basic dimensional inspections to determine overall acceptability and quality of ware.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Adhere to and communicate to others all plant Health, Safety and Quality guidelines and GMP.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities & Skills for our SQF Certified Sites:

  • Have a basic understanding of the cGMPs and Good Hygiene Personnel Practices
  • Notify SQF Practitioner and/or Supervisor of any repairs or adjustments that are required.
  • Perform Basic Sanitation Functions
  • Perform all duties necessary to meet Company, and or Regulatory Requirements / standards as prioritized by the Company, HACCP, and SQF.
  • Notify SQF Practitioner/Quality Manager or any other Management personnel of ANY Food Safety or Quality issues.
  • Identify problems relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the raw material, processes, quality system, or safety system, by performing Production/Quality Checks as assigned.
  • Ability to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the product, processes, quality system, or safety system. Be able to execute and follow the HOLD SOP.
  • Controls further processing or delivery of nonconforming product in terms of Food Safety and Quality issues until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
  • Employee follows all Food Fraud/food Defense Policies while on company property.
  • Thorough understanding of all Company policies, including GMP’s and safety policies, HACCP & SQF.

Safety and Cleanliness

  • Adhere to safety policies.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area and report any unsafe conditions to supervisor.
  • Wear company issued personal protective equipment (PPE) such as uniforms, gloves, hairnets.

Are You?

  • A High School or Vo-Tech School graduate

Preferred:

  • 1-3 years prior experience as a production operator.
  • Additional education in related vo-tech, operations or manufacturing field.
  • Prior experience in ISO 9001 and/or ISO13485 manufacturing environment.

  • Read, understand and follow documents such as safety rules, operating & maintenance instructions, and procedures.
  • Apply basic math skills: add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
  • Carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or visual/diagram form.
  • Self-motivated, conscientious, with a results-oriented mindset.
  • Good organizational and communication skills to work independently and also in a team environment.
  • Ability to use measuring devices such as Comparator, Dial indicator, Go/No Go gauges.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with demonstrated ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and demands.
  • Strong technical aptitude, as well as analytical and problem-solving skills to trouble shoot and solve problems.
  • Sound judgment - ability to work efficiently with many competing demands.
  • Ability to communicate their job-related functions with other employees, customers and auditors as needed.
  • Effectively communicate with supervisor.
  • The ability to read, write, and comprehend information provided.
