Responsibilities

  • Understand PPE requirements and follow safety policies.
  • Operate and understand line 1 controls and equipment.
  • Plan for splicing, changeovers, and material preparation.
  • Set up and monitor line parameters for product quality.
  • Communicate quality outputs to maintain defect control.
  • Notify leaders of equipment or raw material issues.
  • Perform daily safety checks and housekeeping.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by team leader.

Job Summary:

This position is a unionized role within our production team. As an Operator, you will be required to learn, understand, and put into practice all of our policies and procedures to help manufacture the highest quality products in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will routinely perform your duties with minimal supervision, independently and in a team with another operators. You must be able to work in an environment with distractions, maintaining a high level of accuracy and safety, while performing your duties. No travel is required for this position.

  • Expected hours of work is Monday – Sunday; 7:00 am – 7:00 pm & 7:00 pm – 7:00 am

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Understanding of PPE requirements and ability to work safely, following all plant safety policies
  • Ability and understanding of any applicable equipment lock out (electrical and air lock out)
  • Knowledge of safety interlocks and understand work order information and documentation requirements.
  • Knowledge of appropriate work instruction and product types/quality requirements.
  • Ability to complete daily housekeeping activities in line 1 area and any other area assigned.
  • Ability to operate and understand functions of the back control panel
  • Ability to plan for splicing requirements and safely perform an acceptable splice. Clearly communicate with winder)
  • Ability to plan for, prepare and complete changeovers on Line 1 (proper raw materials, process parameters, thickness and alignment) to minimize time.
  • Ability to set up, monitor and adjust line parameters according to product and quality requirements
  • Communicate with winder operator on quality outputs and make adjustments to correct quality defects.
  • Marks quality defects as needed to ensure winder can recognize and reject the quality defect.
  • Understands the quality output requirements and notifies team leader and quality if not able to adjust the line for the defect.
  • Understands the equipment functionality and informs team leader, maintenance and quality if an equipment issue is affecting quality and/or safety.
  • Knowledge of raw material requirements for quality and notifies lab if raw material problem is identified.
  • Knowledge of mixer and dip tank valve systems.
  • Know the operation of the silo system and understanding of shaker system operation
  • Know how to use water for cooling (city & tower)
  • Ability to set and monitor selvedge edge.
  • Ability to set up and monitor lap line printers and run line at required speed.
  • Ability to set and monitor pressure gauges, rag roller and all surface applications
  • Perform daily walks around your work area to ensure guards and safety devices are in place.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by team leader.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma required or equivalent.
  • Two to Three Years of Manufacturing experience is preferred.
  • Experience working with manufacturing machines is an asset

Working Conditions:

Manufacturing Plant environment where the plants may be dirt, dusty, and hotter/colder than office settings
