Job summary

Teledyne FLIR – Waterloo is seeking a Production Operator (Assembler) to assemble and test advanced surveillance sensors for unmanned aircraft systems. You will join a cross-functional team to build, test, and validate components, while contributing to continuous improvement and training others.

Applicants should have electronics assembly experience, English proficiency, soldering skills, and familiarity with IPC inspection).

Qualifications

  • Eligible to work in Canada and to be certified to examine, possess and transfer items under the Canadian Controlled Goods Program.
  • 5+ years in electronics assembly with Lean Manufacturing concepts (5S, 8 Wastes, Kaizen, Standardized Work).
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Ability to read assembly instructions and technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with hand assembly tools.
  • Experience with PCBA – IPC inspection preferred.
  • Soldering experience is an asset.
  • Basic assembly troubleshooting skills are a plus.
  • Experience with electrical testing equipment, environmental chambers or optical instruments is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and dis-assemble electrical and mechanical components and systems.
  • Test electrical and mechanical components and systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams during NPI builds.
  • Provide feedback to engineering and operations on first-time assemblies.
  • Complete repair on assemblies that have failed during post-assembly tests.
  • Assist in product validation and flight testing as required.
  • Provide hands-on training to other Production Operators.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement Kaizen.
  • Maintain 5S in the work area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Summary:

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Assemble and dis-assemble electrical and mechanical components and systems as required.
  • Test electrical and mechanical components and systems.
  • Collaborate with other functional teams during New Product Introduction builds.
  • Provide feedback to engineering and operations groups regarding first time assemblies.
  • Complete repair on assemblies that have failed during one of the post-assemblies tests.
  • Assist in product validation and flight testing when required.
  • Provide hands‑on training to other Production Operators.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement Kaizen.
  • Maintain 5S of your work area.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Skills/Experience:
  • Eligible to be certified to examine, possess and transfer items under the Canadian Controlled Goods Program and legally authorized to work in Canada.
  • 5+ years of experience in general electronics assembly with knowledge of Continuous Improvement/Lean Manufacturing concepts (5S, 8 Wastes, Kaizen, Standardized Work)
  • Proficiency in both written and spoken English
  • Ability to understand assembly instructions and technical documentation
  • Familiarity with hand assembly tools
  • Experience with PCBA – IPC inspection preferred
  • Soldering experience is an asset
