Job description

The Production Manager is a senior leadership role responsible for executing the company's vision in the production division, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role is hands-on and implementation-focused, ensuring that Project Managers, site staff, and subcontractors deliver exceptional results while maintaining efficiency, safety, and client satisfaction.

This individual is a high-performance leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is driven by results, and has a deep understanding of residential construction, framing, and finishing carpentry.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership & Execution:
  • Lead the production division, overseeing multiple projects from pre-construction to final handover.
  • Drive efficient execution of work on-site, ensuring that Project Managers and field teams follow project plans, budgets, and schedules.
  • Enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) to improve consistency, efficiency, and quality across all projects.
  • Act as the primary problem solver, addressing site challenges and ensuring production stays on track.
  • Project Oversight & Accountability:
    • Provide direct leadership to Project Managers, Site Supervisors, and Foremen, ensuring alignment with company goals.
    • Monitor project performance, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
    • Conduct regular site visits to ensure work is progressing efficiently and according to specifications.
    • Collaborate with the design team to ensure constructability, cost efficiency, and feasibility of designs.
    • Ensure accurate job costing by tracking labor, materials, and subcontractor costs.
    • Drive budget discipline, identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
    • Work closely with the estimating team to provide real-world insights on costs and efficiency.
  • Team Development & Culture:
    • Recruit, train, and develop a high-performance production team.
    • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and problem-solving.
    • Conduct weekly production meetings to review progress, address bottlenecks, and align teams.
  • Safety & Compliance:
    • Ensure all projects comply with building codes, safety regulations, and company standards.
    • Promote a safety-first culture, ensuring crews follow best practices and safety procedures.

    Qualifications & Experience:

    • 10+ years of experience in construction management, with strong hands-on knowledge of framing and finishing carpentry.
    • Proven leadership experience, successfully managing multiple Project Managers and field teams.
    • Strong understanding of budgeting, job costing, and financial tracking.
    • Ability to implement and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs).
    • Excellent problem-solving skills, capable of making quick, effective decisions.
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with owners, designers, subcontractors, and trades.
    • Proficiency with Buildertrend, QuickBooks, or other construction management software is a plus.
