Are you excited to oversee the production of leading-edge, high performance prefabricated wall systems that are transforming the building industry?

Does working with a World class team excite you?

UnitiWall is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Production Manager to oversee all manufacturing operations at our industrial facility in Mississauga, Ontario. We specialize in the production of fully unitized and prefabricated exterior wall panels. Our modular wall system satisfies the highest envelope specification and performance requirements. This position requires a dynamic leader who will play a critical role in managing the fabrication and assembly operations, ensuring high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency across all production processes. The Production Manager will be responsible for supervising a diverse team, including shop floor supervisors and overseeing equipment maintenance, managing inventory, and ensuring smooth coordination between purchasing, shipping and receiving, and overall facility operations. A variety of materials and manufacturing processes are used in our facility including galvanized aluminum and stainless-steel roll forming, steel stud framing, silicone applications, aluminum cladding and window installation.

Key Responsibilities:

Manufacturing Operations:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the manufacturing process, including steel stud fabrication and assembly of exterior wall panels.
  • Manage the smooth operation of multiple fabrication and assembly stations to ensure high productivity and quality standards.
  • Conduct detailed production planning and implement and enforce lean manufacturing techniques to optimize production efficiency, minimize waste, and reduce operational costs.
  • Maintain production schedules, ensuring on-time delivery of projects while adjusting resources as necessary to meet customer demands.
  • Execute hiring and people management strategies under the framework established by the senior leadership team, focusing on building a skilled workforce aligned with production goals.
  • Implement and oversee safety policies, ensuring all production activities meet the strict safety standards.
  • Develop and refine machinery maintenance programs to maximize production uptime, aligning with the overall maintenance strategies of the Manufacturing & Supply Chain division.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervision and Team Leadership:

  • Supervise a team of production supervisors and staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Set clear performance expectations, provide guidance, and mentor supervisors to enhance team performance.
  • Evaluate and address personnel issues, including performance, safety, and training needs, in line with company policies and procedures.

Equipment Maintenance and Facilities Management:

  • Oversee the maintenance and proper functioning of all production equipment, including overhead cranes and other machinery, ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure that all machinery and facilities are kept in optimal working condition.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to avoid equipment failure and ensure consistent production.

Purchasing, Inventory Control, and Supply Chain Management:

  • Align production schedules with broader project schedules and supply chain objectives.
  • Coordinate closely with the Project Management, Design, Purchasing and Shipping/Receiving teams to ensure seamless materials flow through the production process.
  • Oversee inventory control processes, ensuring accurate tracking of materials and reducing the likelihood of stockouts or excess inventory.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Maintain a safe and compliant working environment by ensuring adherence to all industry regulations, company policies, and safety standards.
  • Lead safety initiatives and provide training to ensure that all production staff follow best practices and safety protocols.
  • Investigate any incidents or accidents and work with HR and safety representatives to implement corrective actions.

Performance and Reporting:

  • Monitor key production metrics, including daily throughput, quality, attendance, safety and cost efficiency to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in production operations. Provide daily, weekly and monthly reports to senior management.
  • Analyze production data to identify opportunities for process improvements and implement corrective actions when needed.
  • Collaborate with Project Management and Finance to review and manage production budgets, providing insights for cost-saving and profit maximization.
  • Ensure alignment with financial goals and cost control measures.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and qualifications, although all applications are encouraged where the requirements below are closely met.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 10+ years of experience in a production management role within a manufacturing environment, ideally in the industrial, prefabricated construction components, or the automotive industry.
  • Proven ability to manage production operations strategically, working under the direction of senior manufacturing leadership.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience overseeing multiple departments and supervisors.

Additional Desired Skills:
