A family-owned specialty meat processing company is seeking a Production Manager for their Langley facility. The role involves leadership, quality assurance, and optimizing production processes while ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Ideal candidates will have extensive experience in meat processing and strong leadership skills.
My Client is a family-owned business that has operated for over 30 years. They are a specialty meat processing and distribution company spanning six plants in Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan, serving both domestic and international markets.
The Opportunity:
My Client is building a new vision; to support the vision, and are looking for talented and passionate individuals – professionals committed to quality and productivity – to join their team as a Production Manager at their Langley facility.
The successful Candidate for this position will:
• Provide leadership, direction and coaching to all employees within the department;
• Be accountable to specific targets, setting objectives and delivering results, monitor and completion of all paperwork and reports and check accuracy;
• Optimize and use initiative on a daily and ongoing basis to execute production schedules through the use of planning, organizing and the controlling of resources;
• Monitor staffing levels and adjust to meet production levels and control costs;
• Review new and current product specifications, revising the existing specifications and making recommendations;
• Make regular quality assurance checks and food safety assessments for example: vacuum seals, expiry dates, code checks, weight checks etc.;
• Work hands-on as required teaching employees the use of using high speed packaging machines and other production equipment and techniques as required;
• Ensure the plant adheres to all government regulations regarding safe food production, ensuring the highest standards of food safety are applied plant-wide;
• Continuously assesses the production lines and the product being produced and react in a timely manner to communicate potential problems;
• Develop, implement and maintain best practises for area of responsibility including safety programs, documentation and standard procedures as well as develop and conduct training for the employees under his/her control;
• Manage the team and communicate constantly with all necessary parties regarding the plant production schedule, inventory and other issues regarding production;
• Perform other duties as assigned by Plant Manager.
This position requires the successful candidate to be/possess:
• Experience in the meat processing environment; preferably with a minimum of five (5) years of experience...Slaughter experience would be a big asset
• Sound knowledge of HACCP, SOPs, GMP, Environmental Safety, and mass production with the ability to provide technical support to the production team;
• Have the ability to recognize and resolve deviations, compliance issues, seek out and apply best practices;
• Proven initiative and leadership skills;
• High energy and performance driven with a strong desire for continuous improvement;
• Self-directed and professional;
• Strong written and verbal communications skills;
• Excellent time management and organizational skills; experience managing, motivating and directing a production team;
• Ability to function in a fast paced production environment;
• Able to cover alternate shifts as needed.
