Job Description

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Production Manager's primary responsibility is to ensure the production of products that exceed customer expectations in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner. This role supervises approximately 10 staff members, including supervisors and clerical personnel.

Responsibilities
  1. Provide leadership and coaching to supervisors to meet safety, environmental, quality, cost, and service goals.
  2. Collaborate with Quality Control to ensure finished products meet customer requirements through continuous improvement and quality management systems.
  3. Work with Maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and efficiency.
  4. Lead reliability strategies, involving production staff in operational excellence initiatives.
  5. Coordinate with Shipping and Receiving to optimize manufacturing schedules and service levels.
  6. Foster a highly engaged workforce through performance management, employee involvement, and development initiatives.
  7. Drive continuous improvement using Lean Manufacturing principles like Kaizen.
  8. Maintain effective communication with union representatives and participate in grievance procedures as needed.
  9. Ensure employee training on safety, quality, and processes is effective and completed.
  10. Mentor direct reports and build a capable, accountable team to achieve performance goals.
  11. Maintain plant housekeeping standards and implement a 5S program.
  12. Lead safety and environmental initiatives, including investigations.
Ideal Candidate
  • University Degree in a technical field
  • 7-10 years supervisory experience in manufacturing
  • Strong planning, analytical, and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement
  • Proven ability to enhance operations through employee engagement
  • Leadership experience with supervisors, engineers, and staff
  • Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt certification is a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Team-building and problem-solving abilities
  • Effective time management and organization skills
